Putting together Shimano Claris components

So I bought a second hand bike not so long ago. The transmission on the bike is lowsy but I knew that when I got it. I intend to change everything with Shimano Claris components. Nothing fancy nor too expensive.
But the problem is I'm not fiding the Shimano Claris FD-R2030-B front derailleur (3x8) . Could I use a Sora/Tiagra front derailleur instead? would it be compatible with the other Claris components?

Yes, but.... You need to verify that whatever you get is designed for the same middle/large tooth difference as your crank.

I can't seem to find other 3x8 models available. So I'm looking at the 3x9 Sora model now. So just like me your other components are Claris but your front derailleur is Sora 3x9?

I don't know that going one notch above lowsy is really a great upgrade. Tiagra makes some sense or looking for some older 105, Ultegra or Dura Ace in decent enough shape could be good. Claris is one step up from Tourney so it will certainly be a bit better but not really worthwhile unless you absolutely must.

A Microshift R538 front derailleur will work. QBP has two left, clamp mount. Your local bike shop can get it for you, $26-28.

BTW, I tried a 9-speed FD on an 8-speed drivetrain. It shifted, but it had no tolerance for the slightest degree of cross-chaining.

The problem is availability.

I tried an R538 and was not pleased with how it worked. My setup was different from yours as it was a double with a 48t, which is why I thought it would be a better choice.

It may have been caused by an incorrect application, but I’ve mixed and matched a number of other setups and was a bit surprised how poorly it shifted.

If it were me, I’d see if I could find a better 9 speed FD. They used to be easy to find and cheap on eBay, but in recent times the world has turned upside down.
