Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Nice bike, but I wouldn't be too keen on any handlebar that came with a flower basket attached.

I love your color, I have the Grey one. What size tires are you running there?

Finally put this bike back together. Got some fresh rubber and a new seat post. I haven't had this together in over a year or so.

Aside from the seat a bit tipped (could be preference?)

Actually, that saddle position is perfect for a Brooks.

Na, I have a brooks b17. i tip the front up a degree or 2 but not that much. Could be photo angle. I also said that it could be preference.

I should have just closed my browser. Instead now there will follow 3 pages of pissing about seat angle.

Very nicely done classic Batavus ! What gearing for this SS ? Is this a run around rider or serious go all ?

What sort of terrain do you have there ?

I tilted it down about a degree or so this morning on the way to work, but not much. That is how the B17 feels best to me...

I live in nashville tn. Its mostly rolling hills, nothing crazy.

Its just a casual ride bike, set up single speed with dual sided pedals and easy gearing - 42x18 (mainly because that is the freewheel i have, and dont really want to replace it, white industries trials...).

Hopefully it will be gear-ified before the end of the summer.

SS Conversions set up like this are about as enjoyable as it gets IMHO.

To use your terms, it's a Prison position bike.

My neck hurts just looking at it.

Haha..

Yeah. I mean, it does look mean, but I can't imagine riding in that position in a city environment where your range of vision is so limited.

I saw a guy two days ago riding a "cafe bike" conversion, without rearsets. Weirdest most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen.

its really not as aggressive as it looks due to the short reach. drops on most track bikes are worse. the sloping top tube and bull horns play tricks on the brain.

guess imma have to pedal this thing on the treadmill so y'all can see for urself.

yes i ride it fast. =]]]] well i try.

I'd at least put something in the other bar end for safety.
