This one even has a Westrick rim that's in good shape. Superficial rust that will polish right off and no dings or blips in the sidewalls. Unusual in these sidewalk derelicts.

The price is good. Mid 70s Sports. No bad rust issues, the fork looks straight, good condition. Looks to be all original even the Brooks B72 saddle. Hard to tell if the saddle still in usable condition from the picture though. Nice color. Burgundy, looks like. It is a 21" frame. If you're taller than 5' 8" or so, it would be better to hold out for a 23" frame Sports. The stem is set too high. The expander should always be below the threaded section of the fork tube. This one isn't.

Thanks, BigChief . The other pics didn't upload, here they are. I'll take some more when it is not so damp and dreary. I just got back with the bike. The AW hub says '74. The seller gladly took$50. It will probably spend the winter on my basement stand being tinkered with. I'll make sure it's safe to ride. I noticed it has one broken cotter, so I'll have to address that when I service the BB. I think that weathered saddle can be preserved to fit my purposes.
I can comfortably ride 24", 25", 26" Schwinns but I want to try a smaller frame that I can put both feet on the ground for slow rollin' around the neighborhood when I don't have the time for a longer, "faster" (for me) ride. If it doesn't work out that way I'll pass it along.
Looks like the rear section of the back mudguard was brush painted gold & has hints of white showing, I'll gently strip that off and see what's underneath and source a rear reflector to fill the hole there.

Well, there is an option. I'm 6' with a 33" inseam and one of my favorite riders is a modified old 21" frame Rudge. SunLite makes a long 22.2mm touring stem. If you don't mind making up new cables you can use one of those to set up this bike for upright riding with proper leg extension. I put a shim in the 1" clamp to make up for the smaller Raleigh 15/16" handlebar, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Here's my Rudge "scorcher"

I'd say $50.00 was a great deal.
I pay that for a nice used saddle.
And yes, a smaller frame can be a nice city bike
with some modifications for a tall rider.

Hi, I'm new to the forum but not to bikes. I have a bunch of them from the 1980's and used to ride a *heck* of a lot. My wife and I met on a century ride and we both eventually completed the Paris-Brest-Paris 1200Km Brevet. I'm not riding so much lately though. And, as maybe you can tell, my experience is primarily with 80's and older "racing" bikes. I don't know much about the English 3 speed stuff.

My uncle ran a small bike shop out of his barn for years after he retired, and recently retired from the bike shop business too. He asked if I wanted to go through the parts he had left, and now I find myself with a bunch of little thingamabobs for servicing 3 speed hubs and drivetrains. I'm trying to decide whether it is worth doing an inventory and offering the stuff up for sale, or maybe trying to sell it as a lot, or maybe just tossing it out and selling the nifty ancient parts bin the stuff is in. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

It can be a lot of work selling parts if you have to research what's in your inventory. Tools are always in demand. If you take your time, introduce yourself and make 10 posts, you'll be able to show some pics and get informed opinions. If you give a location, there could be someone ready and willing to help you.

Any "love" for Canadian 5 speeds here LOL? It "looks" British, it has 3 speeds (plus 2) and Canada is a member of the Commonwealth so......

I was given a Baycrest Hurricane that I believe is from the 1970's. It's a 23 inch men's lugged frame, most certainly HiTen, with stamped dropouts, not a single braze on and 26 inch (590) wheels. The only reason I'm posting it here is because the mods I was going to make to my '77 Raleigh LTD 3 I posted several weeks ago are going to be made to this poor old rusty lump instead and I will keep the LTD close to original. The rust covered fenders are totally straight and dent free, they will get roughed up and painted to match the frame. I'll switch it over to 26 inch MTB (559) wheels and I have several vintage sets of long reach caliper brakes that should work. I'll replace the crappy nylon cable guides with vintage Suntour clamp on guides and try to keep it as vintage looking as possible.

No, it hasn't. Listing is still up, seller claims "sold" ONLY in the title. The only time I ever see this is when a seller has a handshake agreement for a local sale, but the buyer has not committed to pick up yet.

As such, he revised the listing with such a crazy BIN price that nobody would ever buy it, thus allowing him to keep the listing live if something goes awry with the local sale. Note that the listing indicates that the seller revised the title, description, and sale price on 11/29:Probably against eBay policy, but his style of description doesn't sound as if this is a guy to follow policy in the first place.

Flashlights or "electric torches" became available around 1910 or so. I'm guessing a lamp from 1926 would use that technology.

I'm not sure when the original 8 volt sturmey archer dynohub became available.
