Help Identify and value this Merckx
I picked up this Merckx at the local flea. Since the its kinda a frankenbike as far as components go I'm thinking a part out is best. I know my shimano stuff, but I need help with the Campy crank and front derailleur and the Merckx frameset. What "model" is the frameset and about what year? What would you guys and gals value the frameset and crank at seperately? Am I correct in thinking a part out would be best? Thanks, Joe

Nice bike. It does need some attention. I think that jc is right about it being early 80's (based on the brake bridge). Like you said it's kind of a miss-match of parts with 105, DuraAce and campy but I bet you can get $350 to $500 for the frame.

Its marked with a P on the drive side and Z3443 on non drive side. Also the crank is marked with a square and 11 inside the square.
So that would make it an 85 professional according to https://www.cadre.org/Merckx/

Also did research on the crankset, the square indicated super record and the 11 indicated 1985, so I'm assuming it was originally all super record? Any other opinions on value for the frameset and/or crankset?

Hrm, the paint is a bit rough but I don't see much rust so, with the right photos, I bet that it could go for an easy $450 or so on eBay. 753 frames are pretty rare and the frame is very small so, you might get a fair bit of interest. If that rear hub is also Dura Ace, that wheelset could score you a quick $150 or so on your local CL, the cranks maybe another $100 and the Dura Ace brakes another quick $80. The rest should get you another $50 or so.
Is the middle chainring a Mavic?
I take it the bike ain't your size?

Middle chainring is TA 44t and cassette is a Sachs. The bike actually fits me well, but I already have too many and this is a good flip candidate. Unless I sell my LeMond instead... decisions decisions

Maybe that someone has something identical and finally has a chance to find out what (he hasn't had such a chance on this forum so far) - it's really such a big problem?
