"nothing that affects anything but the cosmetics"

Eddy Merckx 10th anniversary plus parts - $1000 (mill valley)

"up for sale is a 10th anniversary(1980-1990) Eddy Merckx frame made with "columbus tubi speciali superbutted" chrome alloy. the frame isn't in the best condition so it will be cheap. (usually the frame alone sells for around $1000) there is a little surface rust all around the bike but nothing that affects anything but the cosmetics. the frame has been customized and had the mounts for the shifters on the down-tube removed, notice the large blemishes near the head-tube...take everything for $1000 or buy the individual parts:

Eddy Merckx 10th anniversary frame: $600...."

the price is right, but....would had been more accurate if "nostalgic" and "bicycle history" were replaced with certain other words...

https://allentown.craigslist.org/bik/1798968756.html

Huffy White Heat Mountain Bike From The 80s Good Shape 12 Speed - $20 (Lehighton)

This is a loud and one of the more deluxe bikes from the 80's. 12 Speed. Good condition and ready to ride. If you read up on this, you'll see this is one of the more nostalgic bikes from the era and a pure piece of bicycle history. Garage kept.

"Only 100 made" is a pretty spectacular claim to make. Especially when you don't mention it again in the ad, but instead say you don't know much about bikes... Hm...

I didn't know carbon fiber could be welded or there is a 40 speed drivetrain. I wonder how well that rear suspenion works with the seat post touching the shock?

I just don't even know how they got 40 speeds. None of the math for any stupid illogical equation I think of equals that.
Guh...
And why is it that people think stuff given away in sweepstakes are always valuable?

The swan song of a chronic jerk overposter - in the words of a spectator - on the Miami Craigslist:

The Bike King's Lament (Plantation)
Date: 2010-06-19, 5:00PM EDT
Reply to: see below

There once was a lad named Scott
Who did brag quite a lot
About his private bike collection
That offered a huge selection
“200 bikes or more”
The braggart he did roar
Through his many CL overposts
Best prices and guarantees he boasts
One day he proclaimed himself Bike King
And in his mind it was a wonderful thing
But the flaggers took note
Of the overposts he wrote
And did flag his ad
Which made Scott mad
So rant and rave did he
Whining and shouting “let me be”
But now code enforcement is on the case
And soon will be in his face
Code Enforcement asks “do you get the gist”?
You must now cease and desist!
“A commercial business you may not
Have in a residential lot”
So they took away his king’s crown
Which was a bummer and a letdown
“All of these bikes you must haul away
Very soon, like today”
Heavy is the head that wears the crown
When everyone is putting you down
Forced to abdicate the thrown
When the future is unknown
Stay tuned for great bike deals
Complete, frames and wheels
Going out of business prices are cool
Especially when bought from a tool
Hear ye, hear ye, come one, come all
Prices are slashed, have a ball
The moral of the “Bike King” saga will live on in lore:
“Overpost on CL and you will list there no more!”

Read This! Ride Group TONITE! (Atlantic)

Are you bored?

Trying to put together a midnight ride group. Meet at Atlantic & 10th TONITE June 20, 2010 at midnite
Free!
No special bicycle
This is not critical mass
MUST HAVE

White TShirt
Reflective Vest if possible
Lights on bicycle

text or call 9547899849 for details and RSVP

See you there! No freaks, weirdos. This is just to ride around Pompano Beach. We will go from Atlantic to A1A to Sample to Dixie to 10th back to Atlantic.

FUN!

PostingID: 1801924800
No freaks or weirdos are permitted, so I'm out already. The people who are permitted to attend must be bored (make that REALLY bored,) willing to wear the uniform, and trusting enough to show up on the edge of a dodgy neighborhood at midnight to meet a complete stranger(s).

What could possibly go wrong?

If you're going to ask stupid money for a marginal bike, at least put the tire & tube on.
