Show your Super Sport

I am very pleased with this 1983 and surprised Google doesn't turn up much BikeForums discussion of the Super Sport. The model has changed many times over the years. Any Super Sport fans out there?

Here's my '73, apparently the only year they offered sunset orange.
Sold it to a great guy from Chicago, my guess is that it's still going strong!

wow I have a beat up Sierra brown 71 and was wondering what color to paint it and this white looks really nice. Like the silver accents too.

I cant decide which color to paint mine either, but I like your approach. Is the one on the far end Coppertone or Pearl Orange?

Nice job, how did you do the chrome accents on the head tube and chain stays?

This one is pretty much original ...

This one has new parts, crank conversion is with slightly rare conversion spindle, preserving the original cups and bearings. It seems to work well, but is likely heavier than adapter method.

Here’s my recently-acquired ‘87, a great bike. I’d love to get my hands on one of the earlier fillet-brazed models some day!

Thank you. I painted those sections gloss black, then used Rustolem chrome paint. I'd never do it again though unless I had at least a week to just put aside and allow it to cure. If you touch the chrome, it dulls and it chips easily. Maybe I did something wrong. It wasn't my idea to paint the chrome areas but he really wanted it. The white came out good though, and I think white looks good on a ss.

Beautiful, I'd love to try one of these more modern Super Sports, I believe made in Japan by Panasonic? Looks like a sweet ride. I like the chrome chain slap guard.

@tyler_fred, can you say if the SP fork differs from the standard '83 Super Sport's shown here?

Specialmonkey, I bought new in 1975 a Super Sport exactly like the one you have pictured. Toured all over the Midwest with it and into the south a bit. Completely stock like yours and it performed flawlessly until both wheels got bent in an accident. Great ride.

It rides quite nice but I’m no expert. I couldn’t say if there are differences in the fork quality. I have an 84 Peloton also made by Panasonic. The SP is Tange, the Peloton is Columbus. Both ride smooth.

This is the '86 Super Sport project I picked up recently for $20:

I have most of the parts gathered for it and restored and the black repainted. I want to repaint the red but am having an issue getting the decals made so this project is on a hiatus.

I would think that Velocals has your decals readily available.
