Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just picked up my first road bike. A 2012 Fuji Roubaix 3.0 for $549. I am looking forward to getting in shape and getting out and riding!

Finished building this bike recently. Most of the pieces were bought used on CL/Ebay except for the Fizik saddle, Chinese bottle cage and FSA omega compact handle bar. Rest are: Shimano 600 tri-color drivetrain. Easton EA50 front wheel and DT Swiss RR585 wired powertap rear. Thinking about getting a new pair of black sidewall white thread tires and a nashbar threaded carbon fork.

I recently bought this from Competitive Cyclist, have just started riding a road bike after no riding at all for 5 years. I had an Iron Horse MTB before but wanted something lighter on the road for fitness/training purposes. Great price from CC, had it fitted at my local bike shop - they were great and got me feeling a lot more comfortable. Managed to scratch the frame already by being clumsy when resting it against a post. Thank goodness for touch up paint from CC!

My 12-yo son just got a used 48CM Cannondale CAAD 2 (about 10 yrs old) at the local shop for $150. He rode it all weekend getting used to it. He can't wait to go on a 'real' road ride. As soon as it friggin stops raining around here, we'll start with a good 12 mile loop.

Hell of a deal huh? I snagged the exact same one off CC to keep at a second bike at my work location during the week. Such an awesome ride although the seat was the first thing I switched out

Unreal. Got 105 set. Triple big ring, so he can learn to do hills easier. Unreal deal.

Shop switched out seat for free. Was a small woman's bike prior. Had a 'cute' butterfly embroidered seat. Got a basic Specialized seat to replace.

I really like my 1980 Moto Grand Jubilee but this bike really seems to push all the right buttons. I realize it's not in the same league but tell me what you think. I was considering putting some straight bars to use as my around town bike, and at $389 it seems like a steel, pun intended. Of course it would be a larger size to fit me like my Moto.

What 105 brifters are those? Mine look like these, which still seem to be current on the Shimano website:
