Chose a bike today and brought it home
Thank you to members who helped me work through some questions about buying another bike. While I’m very new to cycling, I find myself doing it daily, and needed something lighter and more comfortable than the older steel hybrid bike I have been using.
After going to a couple of LBSs, I ended up choosing a 2019 Specialized Diverge E5. I hadn’t really planned on disc brakes, but this bike does have mechanical disc brakes. They do feel a little different from rim brakes, but I found myself quickly getting used to them on the test rides I took on the Diverge.
I am looking forward to breaking the bike in on my daily rides, even though they are pretty short right now (5-7 miles thus far,) mostly due to time constraints. I want to spend more time on the trails, and I think the Diverge will be nice for that.
Here are are some photos. Please excuse my garage.

Fantastic bike. Specialized makes a great bike. I am thrilled with mine. You will love that bike, if you don't already. Be safe and have fun.

Thanks, everyone! I took it out for a few miles around the neighborhood tonight to get used to it a bit more, but had to cut it short as the darkness sneaked up on me. And I wasn’t equipped for night riding.
My other bike is a hybrid, so I’m getting accustomed to the different ride position. But, I’m acclimating much easier than I thought I would.
I tried several others that were also nice, but kept coming back to this one. I really like the feel of the bike and how it handles. I think I will enjoy this bike for a long time. I am very excited and looking forward to riding tomorrow.

Still excited. Took the new bike out this morning and am really adjusting to the feel of a road bike. I enjoy the way this bike handles.
This morning, my husband put up wall mounting so I can hang it next to his. The light weight allows me to be able to take it down and put it back up easily. This wasn’t the case with the previous bike.
Here they are hanging side by side. His is a Trek 5200.

Not into the black bike look but that looks like a bike that can take you far on your bike journey. If you like the handling as it sounds, that's just going to make the ride that much more enjoyable. Would be nice if you think to come back and report after a couple hundred miles or a couple of months.

Nice bike. Oddly this is like the third Diverge NBD where the bars are installed with an upward tilt. That's unusual. Is there a reason for that? The top of the bars into the hoods is normally horizontal and parallel with the ground.

Thanks. I actually had that adjustment made when I bought it. I just find it to be a little more comfortable for me right now. I don’t know how I will feel as I progress. They may end up move back. We’ll see.

I just bought a red Diverge a week ago.
I love it.

If the tilt upward is most comfortable for you, you may need to try a shorter stem. You might be extended too far on reach.

Nice bike.
If you park the car outside you could fit a few more bikes in the garage.
Just sayin
Enjoy the ride!!
