Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? New SS build: Panasonic DX 2000

I was given this bike in 1997. It's a 1980 model. After a few years, I changed out the original components and used it as a comfort bike. Then a couple years ago I made it into a fixie using one of those white industries rear hubs that will tighten the chain on a bike with vertical dropouts. Well, I decided it was time to improve it again. I just got it back from Got it Covered Custom Powdercoating in a fresh gloss-black. Any suggestions? I'll use that white-industries rear hub again. I have a brooks leather saddle. I'm thinking "crit-bike" looks. Any other suggestions?

It's takes me a minute to get that attached. The iPad pics are too large, so I email to myself, then send to iCloud, then attach to post. Done.

Why don't you use an image hosting site? It makes it way easier for you and it makes it better for viewers because the pic isn't so tiny.

IMGUR is free, easy, convenient...

Well, thank you for the suggestion. It looks like a disassembled 10-speed frame. There is not much to see yet, although the powder coating is amazingly beautiful. I'm debating putting original shimano parts back on, vs going a generation newer for improved reliability. I'll go ask at my lbs.

Thanks again,
Geoff

That is specifically why I made my suggestion. I'm a big powder coat fan and enjoy checking out good shots.

I asked advice at the LBS. Decided against "crit-look". I'm planning to ditch the 2012 FSA crank I had been using since 2012, and put the bike's original Shimano crank back on. I'll use newer 700 C wheels with the fixed gear side of the flip flop hub. 32mm tires (yes, they fit), Brooks saddle. Newer rim brake, front only. 80s vintage MTB pedals with old-fashioned clips. I haven't decided if I'm going to use original drop bars or comfort bars or a flat, MTB style bar. I'll try to post better pictures when it's done.
