Not New, Just M.I.A. - Glendale, CA
I joined this site back in 2011, but have been gone for the past 6 years due to kidney failure.
I got my kidney transplant 3 months ago, and docs have cleared me for physical activity in moderation, so put my beach cruiser in storage and a buddy hooked me up with his old racing bike to help me with my recovery.
Feels great to be back out and about again, although I deal with debilitating pain afterwards, but gladly taking the pain in exchange of the gain.
Pic of my cruiser and my new mountain bike.

Hi Mike. I'm glad your transplant worked great and hope that the pain goes away. You must be psyched to be riding again. Let us know what's going on.

Yah I am hoping the pain and side effects subside. Docs say that since the anti rejection meds are for life, I may be stuck with things for a while. I am getting used to the bruising, but the cramps are still a bit jarring when they occur.
But, it's so nice to pee. hahaha. Dialysis patients don't urinate so being able to pee every few hours feels amazing. It's the little things... hahahaha

Thanks on the bikes. I lucked out on the mountain bike. Since I can't lift anything heavy, I scored when my buddy gifted me this bike. it's so light i can lift it with one hand.
This photo was from Tuesday's ride at Griffith Park in L.A.
