Thanks for sharing this fascinating machine.

Fine job with photos; would be helpful to see some with natural light if convenient at some point.

Bottom bracket appears there may be a lockring on fixed side; is that correct?

Are the Spidel pedals a Maillard product?

Slightly odd that a 1985 top end machine like this came with non-heat treated rims.

Wonder if it is possible that wheels may be slightly earlier than cycle...

Thanks. I will take it outside later and shoot some pics. There appears to be a lock ring on the fixed side of the bracket. I looked at another and it was the same. Any idea what it's worth? The frame is way small for me but I had to have it due to the condition. Any idea on valuation? I won't be flipping it, I am just curious

Thank you so much for the additional information and the closeup image of the pedal.

My error, had assumed the "speciali" marking on the pedal to be Spidel.

Have not previously seen this pedal model.

Do you think it possible that wheels may be slightly earlier than bicycle, wondering because of rims...

Will leave appraisal to the experts. Sadly, have no knowledge of this marque.

Member @MauriceMoss is sure to be able to enlighten.

Cool bike, I assume it's custom built in Colombia? This bike has top notch parts throughout and top notch frame tubing. You obviously know that which is why you picked up the bike even though it was not your size. What makes valuation difficult is that the "brand" is unknown in the States which is were most of us are located.

I'd value it in the neighborhood of a custom built bike from that era with similar parts. It gets a bump up for condition and perhaps a bump down for being from an unknown builder. I'd value it in the neighborhood of $500 plus as it sits; sadly it is worth more as a part out than as a complete bike. That's a cool crank (stronglight 106), cool RD (super record), cool brakes (CLB), and hubs (pelissier professional). Many of these are high end parts that you do not see everyday.

Thanks. It was for sale for 600 but I talked him down to 300 due to the size. At this point I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it sure is pretty. I may hang it on a wall. I may sell it, I may swap it or I may use the parts on another frame. I'm just not sure yet. famous for quality, Duarte bikes were hand made in Bogota and used by most Colombian racers. in Colombia they canabalize parts all the time, and when things break it's not unusual to see, for example,Acer deraileur on on a bianchi, the shifters moved up to the handlebars and all sorts of Frankenstein bikes, so I feel fortunate to find this intact.

Thanks so much for giving this background information on the situation in Colombia.

Noticed that assembly every bit as nice as work on frame and assumed it to be factory assembled.

The odd thing, if it were factory assembled, is the combination of components. Nothing at all "wrong" with this combination but it would be costly for a manufacturer of bicycles.

"Usually" a manufacturer of cycles will try to purchase as much as possible from one export group/trade association or keiretsu in order to get the best possible price.

The mixing of component sources like this gets costly quickly for a manufacturer...

Congratulations on the fabulous buy at three hundreds!

That's purdy! I can't wait for the outside pics. I can't really tell what color it is in that light.

So anyone have a valuation for a Duarte in this condition? I know some people downgraded the value for unknown builder, but in fact Duarte is a well known ,smaller well respected buildero professional race bikes. they also have a somewhat interesting history with the Colombian cartel. All of this is easily googleable

I'm the one who wrote that. The bike is beautiful and it may well have a value in Colombia. I simply pointed out that in the US--which is where most of us are located--the name on the bike will not help. If you plan on selling it in Colombia, of course, that name will help.
