An early Losa

I'm a huge fan of Vanni Losa's work and I love green bikes so I couldn't resist this. My guess is that it was made in the 70s, given the older style cutouts on the lugs. It also has the teardrop cutouts that are more common to Losas on the bottom of both headlugs and on the BB lug. While I didn't take a pic, the seatstay caps have a Losa pantograph. BTW, the tires in the pics measure 30mm wide and have plenty of clearance.

Wow, looks very nice and I can see why you had to go there.

That being said, that is a seriously lightened BB.

Definitely hope the flow penetration is very good on it.

I saw that. Not the usual double V hourglass cutout. Lugs are more like lotus flowers than his usual later work...

Beautiful artistry in the brazing, though. And an unusually relaxed geometry.

Thanks for sharing and really interesting to see one this early. Can you take some more detail shots of the head lugs from side and bridges, dropouts and seat cluster?

Pretty bike! I opened the thread hoping to see one of those ultra rare(nonexistent) De Losa bicycles.

Here you are. Sorry, I forgot the dropouts but they are Campy....I'll get some later.

A couple of things to note; it appears that the BB drop is around 75mm (it's hard to be certain without a headset installed) and it takes nutted brakes.

That’s real nice Scott. I’ve always wanted to ride a Losa and I’m a sucker for a green bike - only one I have (green that is not Losa) is at the powder coater now though.

Do you think that one’s a repaint?

Thanks. Yes, it is a repaint. If I understood the seller correctly (it came from Italy) it was done by the Losa shop; they are still in business but don't appear to be working with steel any longer. https://telailosa.com/en/
