Suntour FD on my mostly French touring bike... They handle triples well.

'83 Frankenag Super: Stronglight 105 cranks, Shimano Crane RD, Dia-Compe Gran Compe brakes, Suntour shift levers, Campy FD, hubs and seatpost bolt.

Hide the kids, cover your eyes... Colnago Technos with a 1987 Shimano Deore XT MTB gruppo...

A carbon fork... With blue masking tape, no less.
A proper all Campy Gios frankenbike.

One of my all time favorite riding and handling bikes - my 1984 Gitane Super Corsa. I built up from a bare frame with parts I had on hand. The Simplex SX-610 RD index shifts a Shimano 8 speed cassette very well with Sachs Rival levers thank you.

Last but not least, my 1975 "all Campy" Raleigh Pro. The frame arrived one Saturday back 2007. I was in a hurry to build it up that evening and take it out for a spin on Sunday morning. Didn't have a Campy BB handy so I threw in a Stronglight crank. Haven't gotten around to changing it.

Oh, and one more transgression, all of my cassette hubs except for one are Shimanos - no matter what the front hubs are. Campy, Maillard, Suntour front, Shimano rear....

Would it help if I brought my non-aero shifters into the thread?

What about my Campagnolo non-aero shifters?

I currently have more frames than parts. So.... I had an issue where my Lotus Classique cranks kept working loose. I read many threads where the square taper and or crank were permanently damaged if rode for longer than X miles while loose. Meanwhile, while trying to make some adjustments to my Miyata 912 I realized I had a frozen stem, likely that way since I picked it up. I also was a little tired of the look, so my more attractive, best conditioned frame Lotus got a 'new' set of 600 cranks. They haven't budged since I put them on. I wish more manufacturers would have had that crank bolt/integrated puller design, so much easier than grabbing a second tool. When I went to put clipless pedals on my Univega Gran Premio, I found the previous owner may have cross threaded one of the pedals on... Now that bike has my Miyata 1000 cranks. Then I broke a spoke on that bike. Interim fix, Gran Premio now has 1000 wheels, which had been a modern upgrade to that bike. For the remainder of summer Lotus and Univega are my favorite bikes I want to keep going, but really want the 1000 running again eventually, not sure about the 912.

Work in progress... Early 90's Bertin frame. I believe that this was a factory paint job???

I've named it after a traditional British dessert pudding made with suet and dried fruit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_dick

Cute? Like an angler fish is "cute" Interesting bits, sure... but cute?

(This was the "cutest" real Angler Fish photo I could find. Seriously.)

I've done that, though not on every bike, and I can't bring myself to use mismatched hubs. The reason is that you can get a brand new, high quality Shimano rear hub for under $35. It makes the indexing more complicated with Campagnolo components, but there are several different ways to make it work.

The biggest heresy here is that you used a compact double instead of a triple.

Egad. This is the most painful thread in living memory.

Where are the damn multi-quotes?

Andy, I used to be a moderator here. I was a peacekeeper above all else, but dang!... The Spanish Prime Minister denounces you and St Alberto is shaking his head while completing his dinner of beef stew. You could have avoided all this by posting photos of an Orbea. Completely lost my train of thought due to rampant wrongness. Shame be upon so many houses.

I like the look of dropped seat stays, and if I ever bought a new bike, it'd be something like a Tarmac because I think they're the one "new" frame feature that actually looks cool.

...I have a matched pair of wheels anodized in that purple color. I took them off a perfectly good team livery Bottecchia, on which someone thought they made a nice accent touch. I had been meaning to try to sell them on the local CL, to some hipster with more courage than me. Here is what the Bottecchia paint looks like (not mine). I guess that screaming neon safety yellow and purple paint job wasn't loud enough already.
