Bells Bike Shop

i recently had a relatively bad experience ordering from bells bike shop in Philadelphia- ebay name bellsbikeshop. they substituted items on my order without telling me. i found out only AFTER it had shipped which is when i got the invoice, which was nearly 2 weeks after they said it was shipping.

anybody else have any stories? are they trustworthy?

I ordered pedals and a lock from them once. The packaging was pretty haggard (the pedals were in a ripped open envelope that was in a plastic bag) but the order itself and the speed and such was fine, I guess.

The one and only time I've purchased from them, the KMC chain that I received was separated from the manufacturers box (top/bottom flaps weren't taped) and the master link was no where to be found. I emailed them and they just told me to just keep looking in the packaging for it. I didn't even bother to argue further and bought another chain from the LBS.

I ordered from them once. Shipping was fast, price better than anywhere else, and packaging was no problem.

I'm not surprised. In over 4 years, my ONLY bad ebay experience. Wouldn't go near them again.

I ordered a crank, some pedals, and clips from them a month or two ago. After I ordered, it took 3 weeks for the package to arrive...

yeah thats why i ordered from them, the prices were good and they had pretty much everything i needed. plus the guy that helped me over there was super cool and helpful.
i ordered some wheels with formula hubs and i was invoiced for origin 8 hubs (he assured me they are EXACTLY the same) and i received no name hubs. they also substituted an alternate no name chainring and no name cages in place of the mks i had on order. kinda strange.
left me with kind of an empty feeling. like i don't even want to deal with returning the stuff. i'll just keep it and use it as back up stuff when i eventually upgrade.

Never had anything shipped, just usually stop in when visiting my girls parents. The owner guy, Mike? is super friendly, very knowledgeable and the prices are hard to beat.

I should have feedback soon. I just purchased a lock, pedals and clips. Some of these responses kind of have me worried, but they have good feedback on ebay. Guess we shall see.

I live in northern delaware, which is basically 35 miles from Philadelphia, so naturally I've gotten my items shipped rather quickly. I've ordered my wheelset and my cog from them and the packaging was great for both and the communication was good as well. I'm satisfied and I would order from them again

Everything I order from them gets to me in 2 days. I agree their packaging could be better..they shipped me a set of tires in a giant envelope. Not really a big deal though, I'll still order from them.

well it just goes to show that one shop is capable of different levels of service. With some of us they clearly cut corners, while they seemed very good w/ others.

I ordered a pair of Weinmann DP18's from them. They came in a somewhat reasonable time frame. but it looked like the wheels were dragged across rough pavement for a block. Super pissed.

For some reason, I bought a crankset from them later. It came quickly and was totally fine.

Worst purchasing experience of my (long) life, either brick and mortar, or online. The guy doesn't give a f--k about customers. My wheels took 2-3 months, packaging was sub-standard, one axle sticking out of the box, one wheel didn't spin freely, missing parts, he wouldn't return phone calls, or emails, etc, etc. I finally reported them to BBB. I wasn't the first.

Same here. But my order had to travel trought the ocean til germany.
the guy was very nice and helpful, respond quick. shipping was not so fast, since he didn't had the parts he was selling.

but i'm not mad on them and planning to oder again, the prices are sharp.

i think there are hundreds of customers whose are satisfied and as usual in a forum, the bad stories are told most.

I've bought twice from them. Both times shipping was kinda slow. But the prices were great and shipping was free. I got a 47T sugino zen racing chainring for only $90.
