Yeah, I shouldn’t have taken it home for an extended trial period. Once I fell in love with how it rode, I fell in love with how it looked. It took a while. Especially with the pie plate cassette.

I never understood the Salsa bike culture. The bikes just don’t make sense to me for the application they are built for. Unfortunately this is one of those bikes that prolly looks a lot better in person than in a photo. Madone Gen 6 is a perfect example of this.

It is a Salsa. It’s the Cutthroat. Interesting you mention BMX. Riding the Cutthroat is the most fun I’ve had on a bike since my BMX days with my P.K. Ripper. You might say, ‘It’s Rad.”

Very hot, but if I recall correctly, the Mavic R-Sys wheels are known for exploding. Get you some polished Velocity Quills laced to Record hubs with 28 DT Revolutions and send it.

That's a stunning machine, staged really well. However...

I don't love how busy the rims are. They detract from the simple beauty of the whole package. We usually see tire labels centered on valve stems, but this was obviously intentional - quirky, but acceptable.

Despite those things, it still scores a HOT from me.

I looked at that too, and just figured it was "V" for valve stem. I might just do that too, as I have a few sets of Vittoria's sitting around.

It fights with my Libra OCD for symmerty/balance, but a bicycle is not a symmetrical vehicle, so I will accept it.

That reputation comes from the first batch of these wheels and one photo, then Mavic updated them. I've ridden these 10 or more years. There great but do regularly inspect the spokes for peace of mind.

Thanks. I do have more visually appropriate wheels but these are my only ones with Campy freehub.

Not really (exploding RSys). These show the silver bands on the spokes so they should be good. I have a pair that I have not used much in the past 6 years. No problems with them exploding however the rear axle and free hub were evil, requiring a couple of replacements, not typical for my prior experience with Mavic wheels.

Regarding the RSys, they were great climbing wheels (very light) but I can feel the aero drag of those spokes on the faster rolling terrain.

Finally got around to getting a photo of my BMC with a reasonably neutral background.
Before anyone comments on the saddle being way too far back, this photo made me realize that and I just fixed it. No idea why I had it like that.

The positive-rise stem and the ergo bars hold it back from hotness IMO.

Fully agree on the riser stem, that was done out of necessity for comfort, I'm not 25 any more.
I, however, am a fan of ergo bars. Didn't use to be, but found them to make riding in the drops more comfortable and the look has grown on me.
