With the way I load “the mule” I very much prefer a prop like above that attaches well above the center of gravity. I prefer effectiveness over convenience. I have a kick stand on only 1 of my 22 bikes, the salty roads BSO. On tour I use the prop I made, routed through the pedal toe strap and lashed to the top tube. As I camp on tour I’m quite aware that, for me, there are no level spots in camp grounds and few paved surfaces so a kick stand is a hazard and dead weight.
