Peanut Butter, Banana and Spicy Mustard Sandwich. No pictures, but I swear, it is delicious and I never met anyone who had added mustard (yellow or spicy brown) to a banana sandwich.

I had a 16' Prindle beach cat, and I got quite a few great hull raising runs in Mission Bay in San Diego, a couple of decades back... not the distance or time you are talking, but hitting the "groove" just right, where the only option was to go harder. Sends the heart soaring!

At the close of the day, I also enjoyed the easy wing on wing return into the back basin...past Sea World, and all the hustle bustle, laying on my back, relaxing as I made the tight final turn into the dock at the launch ramp. It was like the big sigh, at the end. Ahhhhhh.
Once I was in the full wind and bore off to course, I was planing the whole time except the several minutes I stopped to rest. Puffs were pedal to the metal; about as fast as my 12 footer could go. Averaged close to 12 knots for 2/3s the distance. (And remember, Fireflies are a 1948 design. Mine was built mid-sixites. But designed by the leading International 14 designer of the 1930s, the pioneer of the planing dinghy. Uffa Fox. Yes, designed to plane, Just took a fair amount of wind. Fast, seaworthy but narrow and round bottomed. Tippy little suckers. Great, great boats to learn on. If you can sail them, you can sail most anything and your instincts will be trained.)
