1980s (I think) Raleigh, worth buying? *pics*
Hey everyone,
Someone a ways from me is selling this bike and I'm wondering if I should go for it. It's barely ever been used, according to them. The seat has obviously been changed, which they stated in the listing. It's a Raleigh Ozark. They say it's an early to mid 80s model. I've seen this model online, but none that look as dated.
They're asking $160, firm. Do you think it'd be worth it?

Not a real high end model but it's worth the asking price considering condition and the value of the wheels 1.75 dimpled wheels and rims go for crazy prices on ebay there likely worth about the asking price of the bike maybe a bit more if the hubs are decent quality.

As a rider it's really just OK. If your looking for a rider in vintage hard frame you can likely do a lot better in the $150-200 price range in the current market good chance of finding a higher nicer quality full chro-mo Japanese built bike with full DX or LX components.

Around here you could do A LOT better. And if you get one to ride, get a triple up front.

I concur, this is a very basic model. It's more of a city bicycle than an ATB. With the plate style chain stay and seat stay bridges, it's almost certainly a hi-tensile frame. Lot's of steel components too, with little aluminum. I'd bet this is quite heavy. Right now, it's a buyer's market. I wouldn't pay that, for this bicycle, despite the apparently excellent condition. There are better values out there.
