Darn it, there goes that item from my "To Do" list upon retirement. Best wishes to you Caveman/Tim, here's to you finding that perfect next job.

Absolutely! I know some local folks in the B&B biz, and the family may be putting up our lake house on AirB&B as well. (I can engineer a special discount, like I always do for Century riders)
@northbend, @Wildwood, @Drillium Dude and @WNG can all vouch for this particular location:

Makes for a different start/finish line, but also provides a more scenic spot for a BBQ dinner. If the details work out, I'll post something about the next Metric Century about a month before it, in April.

Anything @Lascauxcaveman does is 1st rate.
The Lake House has a special aura - the people who have been there can verify.
I met Tim’s mother on 1st visit, what a wonderful, generous and strong woman she was. And other family members on a 2nd visit.

Olympic peninsula offers many things everyone should have the privilege to see.

Good luck in the next Chapter Tim! as a Gig economy worker for the last 6 years something always comes along, maybe not as fast as you'd like but it comes along eventually. My current gig ends next month so if in my looking I stumble across any copy writing gigs I will send them your way. Hope to do a Kitsap Metric century ride sans hotel next year too! I actually put in a reminder in my 2020 calendar lol.

Don't worry, that was just to stir the pot a little Too many folks I want to ride with out yonder. I wish my wife's half-brother wasn't leaving Seattle soon, otherwise we'd be planning a trip out this fall. It'll still happen though

Good luck on the next gig, I may be joining the gig economy here shortly myself. Time will tell.....

Best wishes for your next step, Tim! I sadly never stayed there despite living close-ish, but I always appreciated your offer of lodging. I am sure it was a welcoming place, not in the least because you were running it. I'll also keep my eye out for a copywriting gig. My girlfriend works as a publishing house in Seattle. I'll see if they still need contract proofreaders.

Very cool hotel. I've read between the lines about your hosting escapades, @Lascauxcaveman and I wish you ( and the Pacific coast) weren't so far away. Sorry you've been forced to move on but change is ultimately good. Best of luck.

Hey, been awhile since I heard from you. Riding the 'bents now? Hope this doesn't mean serious back problems or something like that

Ok, now I'm starting to feel a little sentimental. My daughter located a newspaper clipping with a photo of us at the hotel a couple weeks after I took over there.

Yesterday, she took a lunch break from her summer job a couple blocks away to recreate the event:

That's my little Bubba, a soph o more in college and still rocking the bangs.

Oh, and many who visited got a chuckle out of her monthly award, hanging near the front desk:

(176 Months running! That's quite a string, little girl!)

Probably. I only ordered two in white/large. The other one is kinda stained. I have a hard time getting rid of stuff.

Tim,

I am very sad to hear this news! Funny, just over the weekend I was chatting with my folks who wanted to recreate their honeymoon weekend from 1987, they made a stop in PA (in 87) and we're asking about "That nice bike guy in PA with the cool hotel."

I enjoyed seeing it several years ago, and seeing that basement bike stash. I admired what you were doing for sure.

I wish you well and I'll keep my ears open. Are you willing to relocate?

My best,
Garret
