I had a Cino tune up ride with Bob yesterday in the Cascade mountains.
We got a late morning start in the town of Roslyn and rode East past the town of Cle Elum on quiet back-roads to the Teanaway River Valley which we followed Westward.
When we reached the end of pavement, Bob whips out his phone and uses some screen shots he’s taken of a route he’d mapped out on google to navigate our way back on old logging and forest service roads.

None of these old roads were numbered and we didn’t have cell reception so this was the best we could do. We ended up on some dead end spurs a few times and had to turn around

Soon afterwards we met up with some motorcyclists who were finishing up a day of riding and they told us we were on the right road that would take us back to Roslyn. Reaching pavement, we rode past Lake Cle Elum and were soon back in Roslyn eating sandwiches and drinking beer at the Brick tavern. It was a fun and adventurous day, the loop was a bit under 40 miles.

I'm so bummed that I can't join this year. By the time my head was in the biking game for the year and I realized when this was happening, my wife had already bought concert tickets to see her favorite band that weekend.

BUT, I'm ready for a 2020 announcement and will be reserving that weekend immediately upon announcement (assuming there is a 2020 event).

I've been working really hard this summer to get back into shape after being off the bike for almost two years and finding 20lbs more of myself to love. I've been doing 80+ miles /week and have burned down 7 lbs from the start July. I need to keep this momentum going throught the rainy season, so I'm not starting from 0 again in the spring.

@mountaindave, obvious question, but still, will there be a van to haul all our luggage and misc crap from Kila to Hot Springs on saturday, or is this a self-supported ride? A glance at the cinorider site doesn't make this clear. Sorry if I missed tis earlier in the thread.

I'm just now looking into lodgings, with a bailout plan of tenting on the lawn at Alamedas Hot Springs.

Assuming this year's crowd is smaller than 2016, after a two year hiatus, and there may be some spaces left, anyone want to double or quadruple up on one of the cabins there instead?

As usual, I'm not ready but I'm riding anyway.
@ollo_ollo (Don) and @Lascauxcaveman (Tim) are my cellmates at Symes Hot Springs, I just need to get my bike to Don for transport to Kalispell. I need to pretend to work Monday morning then fly up to Kalispell.

Of that I have no doubt. I have never met a cyclist more ready than you for a ride like this.

I, on the the other hand, have trained a whopping 71 miles in the entire month of August. With 8 more today, my first ride of September. Worst ever since I got back on the bike in 2011. Pretty sure I can get through it, though. I don't think it will be nearly as grueling as last year's Tour d' Palouse. That was hell.

My fat-tired Nishiki Semi-Pro on my big 8-mile training ride today. It felt good to get out on a bike again. Feels like a Cino bike, for sure. Last decent ride I had before today was out of Bob Freeman's back yard back in July? I think I'm going to lose the rear bag for Cino; I carried too much of the wrong stuff last time. I'm keeping the new little Acorn Rando bag and the rock-hard 40 year old Norex saddle. Latest and greatest finds!
