Curious Scott Sawtooth
Hi pedal knights 
I need your help with this bike:
The decals are from 1986?
It's not engraved (Scott) at the dropouts and stem clamping, so it could be from the "Adventure Series".
Until on the saddle and the tires
it is original or the parts are present.
I'm not sure ... Build a custom bike or is it worth to restore it?
Any help is welcome.

I have an '86/7 RD Coyote and a similar Scott frame (mint green). I think they all came from the same place as the frame details are almost exactly alike. The RD Coyote is the only other bike I have ever seen that Tange decal affixed. I have been able to get exactly zero information on it. The components on your bike are newer (late 80's/early 90's)), but it may have been upgraded.

I'm pretty sure the exage 300lx RD is newer than 1986. According to Velobase, that exage mountain crank came out in 87-88. The ubrake puts the frame around 86-88. So, if the Exage mountain crank is original it could be an 87-88

The rear derailleurs are very early 1990s but that crankset is circa 1988. 1986 is too earlier for a U-Brake. They came out in 1987, so I'd guess the crankset is OEM and it's probably a 1988. Serial number?

Ok, well roller cam brakes were around in 1986 and then the ubrake could have been an upgrade, but like you I suspect the crankset is oem so later than 86

I briefly considered that a rollercam could have been OEM, but the probability seemed too low, given that the front brakes also appear to be Exage Mountain.

I don't think it's particularly valuable, so I think you should fix it up in whatever way you'll enjoy riding it the most. I think restoration is overrated. Just ride it.

I have the mint green Scott, with lower U-brake. Mine has US Ski Team decals on it. Will try to post a few photos tomorrow. From the U-brake discussions they were used from 86-88. Is there any way to figure out specifically what year it is?

Your frame was manufactured by Fairly of Taiwan in October 1987. This is late enough in the year to almost certainly be a 1988 model. It's also consistent with the era of chain stay mounted U-brakes.

Hi,
I have just purchased a Scott Sawtooth. I believe it is also 1988 as it has the US Ski Team official sponsor decal on the forks. I can send some pics shortly. Would someone be able to identify the whether this is a 1988 model for me?
