Proper. So much better than the Magic****.

It takes a while for the eyes to adjust from light to dark when you are riding on the road. For that reason I hate turning my helmet(white) light to see the cockpit at times, thinking of getting a red LED helmet light for this reason.

Also if the light is too bright and light is very concentrated (like the IQ-X 100lux) it may have too much glare on the road, making it harder for the eyes to adjust to the dark sections on the road above the light. For this reason I am thinking of replacing my first generation Cyo with Cyo Premium or Edelux II because they are slightly less bright with less glare (80-90 lux vs 100 lux)
Also the IQ-X technology does not let any light spill in the darkness, making a very sharp border between the concentrated light and dark area above the light , Cyo and Edulex II lens lets some light out.

I have read that the IQ-X is not reliable yet , the other lights are cheaper(Cyo) with better reliability record.
I wish I had both lights so I could test them on the same night riding

I seriously doubt a 100-lux bicycle light is going to cause any problems seeing lit vs. unlit areas. They're still nowhere near as bright as car headlights, which for HID can be over 3,000 lumens per bulb, and anywhere from 500 to over 1,300 lux. That photo of the IQ-X above has a good cutoff, but I've seen HID headlight projector housings (Stanley HID projectors especially) that produce a much sharper cutoff than that.

Beam

I just got the Ixon space and the beam has a lot of artifacs, it is not as smooth as i thought it would be. Do any of you guys have this? The beam is super bright up top and not so much at the bottom, I know it was designed like this but anyone have beam shots. Also mine doesnt have a usb port to charge my phone.

I don't have the light but that can be an issue with b&m lights. Phillips used to make better lights (no artifacts in the beam but it did have artifacts off to the side) but unfortunately they stopped making bike lights.

It is supposed to be like that, with shaped beam lights you need to aim it correctly. Put your bike on a flat surface and aim the light at the wall. The top (brightest) part of the beam should be level with or slightly below the level of your handlebars.

This is how it's supposed to end up looking:

Perhaps it resuses the charging port for charging your phone? I'm not sure what it's supposed to have. This is the official page for the light:

I have the Ixon Core, which the Ixon Space is based on. The major difference is the amount of light power. The Core is a super light, and I love the beam shape.

The Whole B&M IQ range*, uses a top mounted down facing LED ..
they need heat sinks for their overdriven diodes..

*Schmidt has them making the reflector, using same system, for the eDelux ...

What makes you sure about this? The LEDs are mostly so low poweres that the air from driving would be enough cooling.

Hah Because I read the designer's Literature
seen cut away pictures.. I often, work in the bike biz.. selling the stuff..

And have 3.. my tiny, mostly plastic, B&M Eyc T senso top of it is Aluminum and it's there to dissipate heat.
E Delux .. the case is all aluminum.. these are see by them dynamo lights from Germany
not cheaper , be seen, flashing blinky lights...

OK, the Red ones in tail lights are not needing to glow so bright white hot
[though some daytime summer winter commuters say they wish they were..)

like the competitive market in brighter headlight models
than other companies also making a brighter bright than they did before ..

such as a revised Edeluxe 2 after Edelux 1..
