Street Legal - Laws in Wisconsin
Hey everyone!
I've been checking out the Kuberg Freerider Street (top speed over 30mph) and was wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge around how to register similar e-bikes / electronic dirt bikes as street legal (whether as a moped or motorcycle, etc) in the state of Wisconsin.
Thanks - I appreciate your input.

Go to "people for bikes" and you'll discover if an e-bike is Class 1, 2 or 3 it's the same as a bike, doesn't need registration or license but has 20 mph speed limit on bike paths and 28 on bike lanes contiguous with a road. It's more comprehensive than that, which you can read about.
Edit: Looked at the site; this forum is for bikes, not motorcycles. My mistake for not looking at the site first.

I edited the original post to help clarify, too.

Unless you got a VIN, I believe the people at the DMV will be unable do anything for you as far as registering as a moped. Perhaps there is a category for home built motor vehicles.
Maybe if you get a letter from the seller stating that he believes the Kuborg is an electric copy of a dirt bike, the Wisconsin DMV might issue you a VIN as a home made motorcycle. This would probaby be a plus for the seller if he had a way for buyers that needed registration to get it.

Just make sure to stay away from bikepaths.
There has been a recent explosion of number of eriders. They are fast and not careful. Many with throttle and seem to be new riders. Law enforcement seems to ignore them so far. This week I even saw an idiot with a regular gasoline scooter!
Our paths are really busy with children, strollers and all kind of human powered transportation. Even my regular bike hadsto slow down to be safe and these e-idiots just race through. Don't be one of them.
It won't get better before people get injured or die.

I think you'll find that electric motorcycle can't be ridden legally in the U.S. That might not stop a lot of people.

I"ve heard reports of individuals in CA receiving moped licenses for SurRons, a similar vehicle, since they're allowed for electric BSM's (bike-shaped machines even without pedals) if the top speed is< 30 mph (of course you need to govern it somehow) and the vehicle has a VIN #. Maybe true in other states.
