I have some fond memories of that lineup. Rode a number of them over the years when I lived in Whistler. 650ish canadian seems steep based on the year of the bike. However see my note at the bottom of the post.

I found kona stinkys and the kona lineup to... be unfriendly for pedalling. They really were ideal for life assisted or shuttling imo. Especially with that much travel.

Personally, it seems almost unrideable, since I do a lot of pedaling up to get to my downhill these days. Its a beast, a tank.. and will be fun to do everything but pedal. So the real question is, is it worth it to you and how you ride to spend approx 600cdn on a freeride/dh bike? In my younger years I would have bought that in a heart beat, but I happened to live on a mountain

sounds like a fun second bike. I trail ride an Intense SOCOM and really don't notice that much time difference compared to my hardtail. I do feel like a worked harder but that's why I am riding anyway.
