Totally.
I didn't go out for long - like an hour and a half - but is was sunny and I rode right out the back door of the bike shop. Next time, I'll ride more of the trails at the park.

We had a really good ride. As predicted, it was quite cold at the start, but the sun shone brightly and warmed up above freezing an hour or two into the ride.
I did wear the nitrile gloves under my winter gloves, but honestly can’t say if they made much of a difference. Next time maybe I will wear only on one hand so I can do a side-by-side comparison.

Graduated button school so now i’m in the sims. First one was this morning, good news I didn’t crash bad news I evacuated passengers when I should have. Now I know not to do that.
Got 4 days off hope to get some real miles in, I used the hotel gym a little bit. Focused more on full body but I also logged some fake miles. Exercise bikes are not fun what’s so ever, even with a tv attached to it. Not too mention it was more like riding a recumbent.
Fun note, I flew home not in uniform but I did have my badge on and with my luggage it’s pretty obvious that I am a crew member. TSA took my ice pack. They asked me what it’s intended purpose was since it was not frozen, I also didn’t have any food in my lunch box. I said I was going home to freeze it and provide it food to keep cold so that it could do it’s intended job. Basically told me because it wasn’t frozen I couldn’t have it. So for those of you about to travel make sure if you have an ice pack it is indeed frozen.

Start temp was about 26. Fingers were cold. I would have been comfy with my mittens but not as dexterous. That seems to be the trade off with cold weather riding.

I was previously all about that desire and it was zero problem for me to spring out of bed before dawn on work days to get a workout in.
But gradually a lot happened to erode that:
1. Coach assigned almost all TT workouts which are hard to do with friends (although I do have friends who routinely ride before dawn year round)
2. My train schedule has gradually crept earlier, meaning I have to finish my ride earlier in order to make my train. I also have to finish my ride with sufficient time to upload data and make notes for coach. So it’s usually a 4:20 or 4:30 wake up time. It gets tiring.
3. I became more reluctant to ride solo pre-dawn on the road after I crashed and got a concussion. That was on a ride with friends and thankfully they were there to help me when my brain wasn’t working too well.
4. Physiologically I need a fair amount of rest to TT well, so my fun weekend rides with friends were of necessity kept somewhat under wraps
5. I got a dog who wasn’t super self confident so I started doing dog sports with her to give her something for her to feel pride/confidence in. She’s young but this season turned out to be a super little rabbit dog and she’d rocked her Field Trials and Hunt Tests. I’ve met a whole new circle of friends who want to do dog stuff together, and these trials and tests are literally all day events (sun up to sun down, no time to ride). Plus I’ve gotta train the dog and also the puppy.
6. We bought a Disneyland Annual pass this year which I’d like to enjoy and get our money out of.
So suddenly I was super tightly scheduled all winter long (field trial season), getting up Uber early, only doing TT trainer workouts and started to feel overwhelmed. I’d skip workouts and that kind of thing doesn’t sit well with me. I’m just the kind of person who shows up for all scheduled things, on time and prepared. Something had to give.
Ironically the field season is essentially over and my schedule is going to lighten up in a big way. It feels like that’s happening just a few weeks too late for me.
Whatever, I can always go back to it, either with my recent coach or some other one, if I really miss the structure.

So, a) I've gotta change that kmph to mph b) the drifting and locking of the stabilization is kind of obnoxious - I think I'm going to try to leave it off for road rides b) a little bit of a sync issue between the video and the Strava data.

One of today’s riders showed up on a new Ridley he just built up. It’s got SRAM Red eTap and medium section Enve wheels.
I asked him if he had the wheels set up tubeless, he said “no, I really did it stupid. Tubulars. But I got a great deal on them!”
