Quick spin today before a tradesman came to give me a quote for some work on the house. Unfortunately the tradesman couldn't quote because of a fairly simple aspect of the job. Guess the other guy gets the work. Oh well...
Anyway, the headwinds were pretty nasty, nasty enough that I nearly cut the ride short but decided I needed to deal with them regardless. From the outset my quads just didn't want to play but before long they didn't want to stop playing. Shame the tradesman was a waste of time, if I'd known that I wouldn't have bothered with him and could have ridden for longer.
Maximum speed 30.8mph down a nice hill (having climbed one side specifically so I could go down the other side), I hit about 29mph on the flats but not for a huge length of time. Still, it was enough to set a new personal best. I think I had a bit of a tailwind by then...
Climbing wise it was pretty easy, my GPS said the total ascent was 869 feet. Not surprising really, I was never very far from the river.

I did no riding for a few days but now should be mostly in one place for a month. Today I did 27.45 miles on my grinder bike, half gravel, half pavement. Stopped at the fire tower and climbed it. On foot, not on the bike. I think I need a real mountain bike.
236.96 miles for the month
4706 elevation gain
2317.88 miles for the year. Neck and neck with Jethro for about 15 minutes.

I was planning on riding to work both yesterday and today. Instead, I end up waking up late, driving, and getting to work late 30 minutes two days in a row. Time for a new alarm clock. No miles to add.

Lots of rain this morning but got out in the afternoon, right into the school run traffic. First few miles slow, due to periodic stops to look (unsuccessfully) for geocaches. Then the last 2/3 was faster as I gave up on geocaching and decided to blow off some steam. The traffic was even thicker by then but for the most part is was moving, and where it wasn't moving the roads were wide enough for me to get past.
Not many hills, but on the way home took a slight detour to see where a road went and found a new hill to play with. To blow off the last of the steam left I sprinted it, and along the way absolutely smoked a guy on an MTB going up it. It was fun, but I couldn't sustain 19mph up it for long so had to ease off a bit before the top.

July 11 - 36 miles
July 13 - 5 miles
July 17 - 32 miles
July 19 - 26 miles
MTD - 200 miles
YTD - 2322 miles

I went out for 16 miles after dinner tonight, stopped and got an ice cream cone on the way home! 179 for the month so far.
