Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Breezer Radar

I love the geometry of this bike (big stack and medium reach)

Anyone own one?

Also is this a reputable site to purchase from?

That is a nice-looking bike. I am not familiar with the maker, but then, I am not really very acquainted with this genre of bike either. That said, with that combo of gruppos, I am kind of thinking it seems a bit spendy for what it appears to be. Just my initial take not knowing anything about Breezer.

Discs with QR would be a deal killer for most folks. Threaded BB is a plus, not to mention the price.

I have a Breezer Radar. Good value, but it is kind of a budget bike (QR axles, seamed 4130, heavy, etc.). It has lots of rack bosses and really will take 700x2.1" tires. It's my first bike with disc brakes and I thought the QR axles + discs might be problematic, but I've had no problems in that area. That frame for $232 is well worth it, but I know nothing about the vendor.

Breezer was part of Performance Bike and as far as I know is in kind of a limbo right now, so it doesn't surprise me to see a heavily discounted frame like that.

Stiff?
Stable?
Nimble?
Power transfer? All the ususal stuff people ask/talk about in a frame!

Thanks,

Thanks,
Not stiff (skinny tubes, skinny steerer), stable in the long wheelbase sense, not nimble (long chainstays, medium-high trail), power transfer: mediocre. This is not a racing bike, it's a comfortable-on-gravel bike. With the fat tires and noodly frame it really soaks up the bumps on rough terrain - that's its forte. Would also work for light touring - too noodly to fully load up like a real touring bike.

Thanks Tyrion ... I was looking hard at this (I need a steel frame----the Raleigh has been bent and straightened too many times and nothing seems quite square.) I have a 105 hydro disc groupset on the shelf languishing .....

...but based on your review, i'd say this is not the bike for me.

Nor me but ...

I like the geometry.

600+stack
380 reach

I can ride that all day.

The dimensions are great ... except I don't do gravel, I have a touring bike already which is stiff enough to carry a full load. The bike I want to replace is a sport bike (a "racer") and since I primarily ride on the road (or ride my F/S MTB) and that is sort of what I want to replace. What the radar does well is not what I need a bike to do.

The Breezer is more of a gravel/ adventure bike with some of their complete bikes running 700x45 tires.
Sure you can ride it on the road, I ride my Tamland on the road all the time.

You are right about the the geometry. They make some big frames.
You looking for just the frame & fork or maybe complete bike?

https://www.the-house.com sells some complete breezers with lots of info. I bought my sons BMX bike from thehouse and it all went good.
Also I would not buy the frame from that site you listed.
