In reference to SPD or eggbeater cleat. Mountain bike style, although my usage involves city shoes.
The soles wear out before the shoes do, which causes a loose connection and exposes the cleat to wear.
I hope I have found a solution. At least it's lasted perhaps a mile of walking and a week of engaging and disengaging the pedals.
Other people have mentioned using Shoe Goo, but I found it wore off too fast. I tried using superglue as an initial layer, followed by application with a glue gun.

I didn't use as much glue as pictured there, now that I'm using superglue to increase adhesion.

A shoe repair shop can apply sections of genuine shoe sole, vulcanizing it in place. Typically they will grind down the worn tread to create an even base and then vulcanize the new rubber on top. In the end you’ll get an even fit on both sides of the cleat and even balance between both shoes — something you’ll appreciate if you wear them walking for awhile.

Interesting solution but I don't see the problem.

I have some that are tennis-shoe style w/ eggbeater cleats that are over 5 yrs old,

& get worn a lot off the bike. They're kind of beat, & the soles are worn, but still function fine.

Shoes wear out, & shoe-goo type repairs don't generally last very long on the sole, in any case.


I do shoe-goo my tire cuts, so maybe I'll try hot-melt for that.
