Can I mix a left ultregra and a right tiagra shifters?

Left shifter not cooperative. Right is fine. Ebay find of an ultegra left is waaay cheaper than new Tiagra. Can I mix the two?

Yes, but it will look, and more importanly feel odd, especially if they hoods are differnt shapes

It shouldn't matter as long.as the shifter matches the FD and crankset.
