Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

2017 RLT 9 RDO frames are $1495 right now.

Mine is an RDO.

https://www.pedalroom.com/bike/niner-rlt-9-rdo-33084

I just weighed it at 19.8 lb including GPS mount, speed/cadence sensors, Xpedo ti pedals, carbon cages and a good amount of dirt on it. It is size 53.

Di2 battery adds a few ounces and the 11-36 SRAM cassette isn't light. It also uses larger 180 mm rotors and that requires a spacer in the rear. It adds up.

It doesn't surprise me that the 5 Star was 18.5 lb without pedals, cages or dirt. Mine is basically a 5 Star with different wheels, bigger cassette and larger rotors. At 19.8 lb dirty, I'm pretty happy with the build.

Especially when you take a 16lb bike, put two water bottles and a saddlebag on it, and bam-- it's a 20lb bike. Are those guys much, much faster at the ends of their rides after the water has run out?

Relax. Its just a conversation.

There really isn't any need for "Burn in hell" drama and cartoons.

If the conversation upsets you that much then click the x in the corner and go make a sandwich or read a book. Participation here is optional.

You're assuming folks are upset or need to relax when in fact some, like me, have been laughing the whole time.

Projection just induces more chuckling.

p.s. The cartoon was merely a representation of a light bulb going off for me after reading that Isotope guy's insightful post.

Is the tire clearance on the RDO any different than the Aluminum version? I have the Aluminum RLT9, seems to have plenty of room for 40mm tires.

I always drink all that's in my bottles before the last big climb on our weekend ride to lighten the load, it helps a lot!

Apparently the carbon RLT has less clearance than the metal versions. I've seen an RLT steel version with a Fox AX and 650b 2.1 thunder burts.

On my RLT RDO there is plenty of room for 40mm Ramblers mounted on 25mm IW rims.
