I'm in the process of upgrading my Brompton.

Yesterday, I stitched up my freebie bag to a bag rack, and installed a Brooks saddle.
Now, I'm considering replacing the roller wheels on the rack, as well as adding ergon grips.

Is there anything special about the brompton rack wheels that I should know about?
Any dangers?

These look like old, no-name roller blade wheels to me.

Are your wheels Rollers or Easy Wheels? The wheels are a compromise between weight, durability, convenience and price. Even if you take off price some aftermarket wheels are in practice a downgrade. Sturdier but heavier wheels than Easy Wheels are offered by bikegang.

There are 2 kinds on the frame rear, it's a 6mm bolt , on the rack its a 5mm,

so in the EZ wheels they use 2 different bearings

with a corresponding bearing ID ......



Aftermarket wheels can be thinner putting wider roller blade wheels has been done, too..

I've been OK with Brompton's own EZ wheels..

Once more you publish yesterday's knowledge as current. Brompton changed the rack as well as the wheels already back in 2016 to this version:

The rack now also uses 6mm bolts (as does the frame), the new standard wheels leave no need for easy wheels regarding rolling and offer in opposite to the former easy wheels a rated brake point that offers protection to a degree when the Brompton gets dropped onto the roller wheels (i.e. during airline transport).
In Opposite to what Brompton says you CAN install the new wheels onto the old carrier - either by using 5mm bolts or by drilling the holes in the carrier to 6mm.

OK , I've only bought 2nd hand bikes , 1 Mk 2 then a Mk4 I've had it for several years..

I put 2_ 5mm bolt EZ wheels on my Carry Freedom City Bike Trailer .. (Back Edge)

Looks adequate. .... O, Ring tire has been around a while buy a whole new one .

doubt you will find just the fat O ring tire , or be able to put a new one on.. if you did..

I purchased a new Brompton with fenders only last week from my LBS. My receipt states that my bike is a 2016 however my serial number suggest 2014. I found this out by trying to register it with Brompton and not being allowed because it is older than 2016. Kinda bummed about that. Then I find there is a recall for my BB.. Gee whizz not feeling all that good about my little red bike at the moment. But that said I'm confused by this 6mm and 5mm discussion. Which bolts are we talking about? I do not have a rack yet and all the ones I see state 6mm version. Can you clarify which bolts are we talking about?

The bolts on the frame are 6mm. Older racks had 5mm bolts at the rear of rack, new ones have 6mm. Larger front easy wheels make rolling the bike easier. I use 80mm wheels. This lets me roll the bike holding the seat tube at a more ergonomic angle with out scraping the rubber shock.

Btw, what's an O-ring tire?
Is it the rear tire? Or roller wheels?
