Hub Upgrade - Salsa to XT
Hi,
I have been thinking about upgrading the stock Salsa hubs (I think Formula) on my Vaya to Deore XT (M8000) before we can no longer order Shimano parts from Europe. There is nothing wrong with the current hubs and this upgrade is probably more for vanity reasons over anything else. The question is whether I notice any performance gains with this change.
My current wheels are:
I am capable of removing and relacing the wheels myself so I'd only have to purchase the hubs. The backup idea is just to use the Salsa hubs until they die.

Salsa is a brand name now owned by QBP ..
Your bike shop, with a QBP account, can order wheels built in their MN HQ..
with any parts in the warehouse..
yours were built at their overseas supplier's factory.. to have a complete bike..

Thanks fietsbob. I know that Salsa is apart of QBP, just trying to judge whether I should buy and go through the trouble of building the wheels.
I am leaning toward no, at least not until something is wrong with the wheels I have.

You will most likely need new spokes too, so you might as well get hubs, spoke, nipples and rims......and build new wheels.

Just noting; a built at wholesaler wheel is made up of parts at wholesale cost, and so, can be delivered, built,
for the cost of the parts at retail or a little less , & certainly if you add local wheelbuilder fee..
