Gait Rigter, good brand? Comments?

Hello all, I've been away from the forums for a while and it is good to be back. I've got a new project that I'm hoping someone can help me shed some light on. I found a Gait Rigter Altra? I believe and all that I know is that it might be from the 80's and that it is from the Netherlands. Does anyone own one of these or have any experience with them? I'm sorry I don't have a pic right now but promise to get some up as soon as I get it home.
It has Sachs drum brakes and an enclosed driveline, 3sp internal gearing, a Brooks saddle. Sweet leather panniers and lights. This is all I know so far. If anyone knows more about these bikes I'd love to hear what you have to say. Good, bad or otherwise I think I'm in very super serious like with this bike. Fire away.

Thanks, I've been googling as well. I found www.gaitrigter.nl which is cool but kinda hard to read in Dutch. Using the Google language tool it seems they have been in business 75 years but I've never heard of them. The bike I have is called "Altra" and appears to be made by Gait Rigter. I'm going to email the company once I get it home and try to get a year locked down. Thanks

Got it home!

Hello all, I finally got the Altra home. It turns out that Gait Rigter is the shop that sells it but Altra is the Maker. It say "Altra Toujours" on the frame fwiw. Here are some more details about the bike:

Sachs Torpedo VT 5000 hubs with drum brakes front and rear
3 spd internal gearing (black Sachs shifter)
Weinmann rims (inox 18/19?) (nr801?) don't know what this means
Brooks B66 saddle (little rough but beautiful)
Vredestein Superior tires 700c X 35mm (Crazy Euro valve stem, not presta ot schrader)
Nyhems stainless steel stem ( Sweden )
No markings on the cranks that I can find
Pedals have "via 76t" and K10503 on them

Bike is grey with gold lettering and is not perfect but I don't care. I just need to reposition the front brake torque arm. Some fresh Tires and tubes, a little TLC and she'll be out on the road. By the way, the dyno and lights work as well. I was pleasantly surprised. If anybody has any comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them. I'm going to email the shop in the Netherlands and see if they can date it for me. Take care.

I'd make sure the handlebar stem isn't pulled out past the safety line.

Good advice is always welcome. I looked at it and it is not even close to the line. It has a long stem to allow clearance for the headlight and the wiring that goes through it.

Question: Can I run a 27" by 1 1/4 tube in the 700c X 35mm tires? ( I have a couple lying around) This thing has Dutch valves and I don't have an adapter to air em up. Any opinions folks?

if by Dutch valve you mean presta, you should be able to get an Presta adapter at your lbs for cheap.

I wish it were a Presta but it is not. I believe it is called a Dutch valve. Its about the same diameter as a Schrader but has a an odd mechanism like a Presta. Is it called a Dutch valve or is it something else?
