Over-communicating when it comes to leadouts is way better less communication, I think.

What don't you like about his riding?

Between amain, MarcPro, and Mikes (even without a sprinter), that must have been a heck of a battle for the front.

It was surprisingly unorganized, at least from the MarcPro side. They are usually pretty well-oiled, but this time seemed to let amain take over at some points, let them come over the top, etc.

The Mikes guys were just poaching at that point, not really leading out anyone.

And everyone else was just fighting for scraps. I had big plans to attack out of the 3rd to last turn, and I did - but I was like 20 people back when I did, not in the top 3 like I had envisioned.

Finishes like that are really stressful!

Oakland is a great course (so is SF). I think it would makes sense if they either scheduled that race earlier in the year or held districts at a different, earlier, event.

His "inside" pass was worthless and dangerous. It got him nowhere. He shoved a guy over in middle of a turn to avoid clipping the curb. He sent his last lead out guy way too early, and didn't set himself up against the barriers for the final sprint.

True.

But in hindsight, I'm sure he'd say the same things. You know how it is; in the heat of the moment, you do what you think is best, etc.

Worth watching, if only for the speeds and powers and constant attacking.

My video.
Wife and I flew out Fri for the Sat race, then me to AUS on Sun night (work) and back today.

When race was canceled the few with road bikes did this ride. It was 29F at the top and guessing 20mph side winds the last mile. I was at the top providing jackets to the 3 that made it. The decent was cold. Daniel had double gloves, 4 upper layers, booties.

I think he's ridden his road bike only 4-5 times since early June, so that was fun to watch - and video. He mentioned he was way off KOM and I didn't think much of it. It was in the video editing (cycling watcher that I am) I thought that was peculiar he was so far down the segment list and started looking more. This appears to be a top 2-3 solo Strava (after I exclude the 2013, 2015 Pro race dates) and was the top time this year in less than ideal conditions. So it was worth missing the MTB race - for us.

VOS RR mostly uncut 2nd wave. Not the best video, but here for those that want to get a flavor. I spent the first 1/2 of the video in the support of the P1 (I wish someone was recording how fast I change a rear - and P1s please put it in your small cog).
