I am in the process of deciding on a new pair of shoes. Because of the need for a wide to box I am looking at Lake brand. I have tried the wide Shimano but they don't fit very well. My old pair were Specialized but they discontinued the model and that brand no longer seems to fit.
So would like to hear from anyone who has used Lake's.

I've had Lake in the past. They fit my wide feet (11 EEE) just fine.
Have you looked at Sidi mega? The mega means wide feet. I've had 2 pairs of Sides and love them.

Had some lake shoes with boa laces. I am size 14 and lake oddly makes sizes 13 or 15. Didnt keep em, but that was only because my size wasnt available.

Comfortable. Heavy, but comfortable.

I have Lake Wides in 46 and 47 ...or rather I have Lake 160s in 46 Wide and 47 Wide.

I have duck feet. It is hard to find a shoe which doesn't curl my toes or slop back and forth. These actually fit pretty well. Of course I cannot guarantee anything about how they'd fit you.

I'd say, try them and send them back if they are terrible.

Interesting though ...I had talked to people about Shimano Wides, and had heard that they were really wide. I might have to scratch them off my list ... or you might need to start riding barefoot. (Come on---be the first guy on your block with cleat implants!)

I had a pair for mountain biking @ 10 years ago. They were awesome! Wanted to buy more, but could not find them locally.

Lake were my first pair of clipless shoes. They were bottom-end models made mostly of plastic, but held up together well. I no longer go much by what name is on the outside, I try on as many shoes as I can, and choose the most comfortable ones. Take your time choosing. I was lucky in that a friend of mine who owned a bike shop knew very well how to fit shoes, and I have always followed his advice.

I don't know where you're buying the shoes but for what it's worth I've seen a lot of good deals on Lake brand shoes on eBay, though I've never bought a pair myself.

I wear 13 eee narrow heels and wide across the ball . i have a paair of lake mt shoes that fit me great . after a year they started to seperate at the heel cup . patched them up with a little shoe goo and they are fine . But I switched to road shoes and spd -sl cleats and am not using them . The road shoes are AGU rho 47 -w and fit me well .

My wife and I used Lake CX125 shoes. Mine are about 10 years old, and were used for commuting, recreational riding, and long distance touring. During this period we probably averaged 3,000 miles a year. Mine are getting pretty worn, and I would buy another pair if they still made that model. The nice thing about them was they were set up for both the 3-bolt Look pedals or Shimano SPD pedals.

i wear lake model 160 wide. fit my wide feet well. i have an extra pair too when my current pair go bad. they are lower end on the quality scale but fit great. when i do get through these two pairs i am going to try sidi megas but i would not hesitate to buy lake again.

heavy dont know about that for my size that is not a concern but fit good for me.

they dont make the 160 model anylonger i guess but i am sure they have another compairable model. ordering online is a giant pain though to do the size exchange dance. that is why i purchased 2 pair off the bat

I remember one morning cycling to work and became soaking wet. No shoes for me all day - complete lake inside of them.
I know cvalake makes some nice customised shoes for Lake Cycling �� maybe not quite home made enough for you.

I have a new pair of CX160s that I plan to put in service soon with a new pedal set...they appear to big good shoes. Shoe shelves are sparsely populated in this area, so I ended up buying 3 pair on an internet shoe sale...CX160s, LG Milans, and AGU RHO. All were inexpensive shoes (the AGUs look and feel cheap)...I think I got all three for less than $100. 2 of 3 fit well...the AGUs came in big, but will accommodate winter wool socks.

are all Lake shoes wide by default? or do you have a buy a specificied wide model?

I don't know if the regular shoes run wide, but they do have a specific Wide designation on some of their shoes ...

For instance the first two shoes on this page (https://www.lakecycling.com/collections/sale) are the CX 145 2017 and the CX 145 WIDE 2017.

Lakes are very wide throughout the shoe where as many brands are only wide in the toe box. I had a pair of their high end shoes and they fell apart within a year. Non replaceable heel pad, material fell apart after 2 months (1200 miles), I would look at S-Works 6 wide. Excellent build quality fully replaceable wear items and fit wider than anything else I can find. Bonts are also a good fit for wide feet

they lace up at an angle which probably helps keep the tongue stay in place? more shoes should be made this way. they fit nicely in my half-clips
