These go Here

This thread inspired me to hunt down some non-aero SLR levers. I neglected to bid on some like new 105 levers that went cheap and then made up for that with a buy it now NOS Tri-Color Non-Aero levers. They are destined for a very special bike and will be paired with Ultegra dual pivots.

My understanding is the BL-6400 are best suited to the BR-6400 (single pivot), these are both designated SLR. The BL-6403 or ST-6400 are best suited to the BR-6403 (dual pivot), these are designated as Super SLR.

Nah, experience has shown that they will work more than fine on the dual pivot 6403's. If they're satisfactory on the back side of Thunder Ridge, they'll work well amnywhere:

I have R600 levers actuating 7700 calipers and they are awesome. I think the Super SLR is predominantly super in the caliper, cable, and housing liner.

That's probably my favorite bike ever, no matter what kind of brake levers are on it.

I recently installed Superbe Pro levers with the hidden springs single pivot brake calipers on the Trek 760. They work as good as the very expensive Record Titanium brakes on the De Rosa. Shocking!

Good to know and nice Eddy!

This is my '88 locally made Columbus SL frame with complete first release 6400, rides fast and very smooth. I've also got a complete 7 speed 'aero' 6400 groupset and 8 speed STI groupset looking for the right frames. I'm kind of into 6400

As a follow up, the aero gran compes look very nice and brake very well. I have true wheels and calipers nicely adjusted. 35 year old pads and they brake nicely with decent feel. Now I have that “leverage” thing in my head. This bike will be fine for this year, but if boredom sets in next winter, I have the parts.

As an aside, my 83 Trek with the vintage Superbe stuff including non aero levers brakes like pooh. Maybe time for pads, but those stock pad holders and pads are just so pretty. I also am slow and ride in the flatlands so it isn’t a pressing need. Leverage??

The only problem I ever had with aero levers was the first few times I rode with them and it felt really weird to not have those cables in front of me. Like those were going to save me from going off the front of the bike on hard braking or something. Got over it pretty quick.
