Panasonic Traincle

Recently I tried out one of these bikes, a LBS has a used one for sale.

These bikes were designed to be carried by tourists and commuters on trains, and are very light weight and compact. With only a single speed and 14" wheels, they are not fast. The one I rode was a little flexy due to the long stem and seat post, but otherwise rode quite well.

The most amazing thing about his bike was the weight, under 6 kg. The Traincle has a titanium frame, and the model I tried had an aftermarket titanium fork as well, with a Dura Ace crankset. It was the lightest bike I have ever ridden.

But the Traincle is expensive, the shop was asking $2000 for theirs.

Anyone have one of these bikes?

Heard of them, seen one in pix, but never in person. Supposedly one of the only production titanium folders made.

Based solely on pics, this is imo the most drool worthy bike. I like shiny, I like titanium, and I like light.

Well I don't have $2,000, but if I did I would spend it on that. What a cool bike...

That is just one beautiful bike. I don't know how it rides, but if it didn't ride all that well, you could just hang
it on your wall as a work of art. Drool, slobber......

Yeah, but does it roll folded?

6kg for a folder is my idea of heaven.
