Do I have to add 7 years to the question proposed in this... so 37 years now?

Ok, so my old Colnago Super was purchased used in 1982. The frame probably dates to 1968 or 1969, so coming up quickly on its 50th birthday!!! And, I would have still been a toddler when the frame was built.

It has seen a lot of miles as an "only bike". I'm riding other bikes more now, but that old bike still gets out once in a while... and sorry Ernesto, but mine is a heavy worker, hauling a rack, panniers at times, and frequently towing a trailer.

I have a Trek 560? I bought new in 1988. It's orange with 105 components. Need to get it out from the top of the garage and get it road worthy again.

Have a Centurion I bought right out of college in 1984, and a Trek 560 bought in the spring of 1988 so I’m within 3 months of having two. My wife has a Schwinn Premis purchased in 1989, so only 1 more year on that.

1980- and 1980 again?

Bought and kept a new Ross Gran Pro Tour in '80. Loaned it to younger brother(s) a couple times while I got in, out and back in the Army a couple times. Got it back and rebuilt it, gave it to the youngest brother last December. Missed it and found an identical (but 23" and better sized for my age-shortened body) a couple weeks ago! The bike wasn't anything special and while it didn't really do anything particularly well, it did nothing badly either. I entered the current one in the 2018 Ultimate beater contest (as a $65 Dan Quale Colnagoe) and will soon be attempting a DIY paint job on it.

P.s.

I grabbed this Ross also because I noticed the triple chainwheel. I was surprised because I never knew the old Shimano 600EX ever offered a triple at all. BUT ... Why the H..???? would anyone even make a small chain wheel on a triple a 39? The duals were only 52/42!

1980 sr

My 1980 SR. The story actually starts in 1976 with the purchase of a used 1974 Windsor Carrera Sport. That bike was in an accident, in 1980, that resulted in a cracked frame. Windsor was contacted by my LBS in an attempt to get a replacement frame. Unfortunately Windsor only sold complete bikes, but their SR side (Windsors and SR bikes were built for Windsor Enterprises, National City, CA) could sell me an SR Frame. That's why this frame has the SR head-badge and their decal on the seat-tube, but no other model designation decals.

Around four years ago I did a complete rebuild of the SR and upgraded the components. The only original component from the 1980 SR LBS build (actually from the 1974 Windsor too) are now those Suntour Barcons It did spend over 30 years with that original 1980 build components and maybe now the next 30 as you see here.

FYI, the SR frame is made in Japan by Miki.

1986 Trek 400, still riding well. Mostly original low-end components (except aero brake levers from way back when, then new wheels and Sugino compact double crank added a few years ago). Slowly putting together a Shimano 600 group for it.

Not exactly, but my father purchased this Motobecane Grand Touring new in 1974. He rode it hard for about 6-7 years, and then an injury forced him off of it. It had been hanging from the wheels in his garage untouched since 1982 until last weekend. I picked it up, brought it back to my house, and spent the better part of a week in my spare time cleaning, disassembling and rebuilding the derailleurs, brake calipers, levers, and replacing the tires, tubes, rimstrips, bar tape, hoods, brake pads, saddle, and toe straps. The wheels still rolled perfectly true. Everything cleaned and lubed, and out for a shakedown ride today! At least it's been in the family since 1974 (I'm 50 yrs old)...

I have purchased 3 new bikes in my life. A 1970 Schwinn Varsity, a '70s Hosteller and early '90s Raleigh. All are long gone and all would have been suitable boat anchors.

I'm sure the pic I posted on this thread was killed by PB, so I'm posting her up again.....

My 1984 Peugeot PSV, I bought new in....1984 while finishing up college.
My first "quality" bike with butted CrMo frame tubes and lugs.
Frankly it disappointed me that I did not feel 10 MPH faster on it, compared to my modded up PH10s (The PSV felt "softer" but much lighter) that I traded in to get this one........ But I grew to love this bike, especially as I realized a bit later that it was pretty much one of the last all French bike that Peugeot made.
Been through many upgrade mods through many years with the bike.....and I don't think I am done yet!

Not quite 30 years old, but I acquired this Bottecchia new in 1989 after LeMond’s thrilling Tour victory.

The bike was a present from my Mom. For most of her early life, Mom too poor to own her own bike, she never even learned how to ride. But when she found out that I fancied “Greg’s bike,” she didn’t think twice and got it for me.

Since then, I have bought many fine bikes, including my current trio of Colnagos. But none are nicer, none are better, none mean more to me that my Bottecchia.

Mom passed away a few years ago. I ride the Bottecchia twice a year; on her birthday and on my birthday.

Gracias Mami!

Time flies! Almost 7 years since I posted this, and I still have the bike, packaging and everything else that came with it. I recently met the owners of the bike shop that it orinally came from (I got a deal on it)
. They were happy to hear it had been placed in a good home. Older pic, but it is still like new! It now has a 1978 Motobecane Grand Touring to keep it company.
