Who is the first to buy from the "new" Nashbar/Performance Bike Websites
I started receiving emails about the "new" websites and owners. Anyone bought anything from them?

I wandered over yesterday to the Performance site to check out mountain bikes. They showed Giant as the the only model and that was for in-store purchase only, which was curious as they are closing or have closed all their stores.
Today the website doesn’t show ANY mt. or road bikes.
So they are obviously trying furiously to get a presence back on the web yet have seemingly hit some stumbling blocks.
It’ll be a while or never before I try them again.

I'm sure I'll check them out at some point, but it isn't a high priority.

It's just the Amain website rebranded.

I visited the website before ordering a lot of parts for a new build. They weren't price competitive on the things I looked at.

But, judging from what I saw on the Nashbar site over the last few months, I'll bet the Nashbar branded bikes have mostly been sold off. Lots of sizes were disappearing from the site or shown in low stock. If their inventory management kept close to a "just in time" philosophy they may not have had that many just sitting in the warehouse at any given time.

The site is owned by AMain.
I have purchased from AMain several times. They are legit.
A decent selection of small parts and fast shipping from Chico, California.
My guess is that it will take time to port the Performance/Nashbar products to the new site. I've emailed them and asked.

That's a bummer. I had been planing on purchasing another of their carbon forks with a 1" threaded steel steerer. I haven't found those anywhere else.

I emailed AMain and asked about Performance and Nashbar inventory. This was the reply...
Thank you for reaching out. Nashbar products are currently in the works, to get them on Nashbar.com. Unfortunately, from the info I have, Performance is not in the works. I'm not sure we are getting those on the new site unfortunately. Of course things change everyday, and we have a number of new brands we are working on getting on all sites.

Amain acquired the websites and the Performance and Nashbar trademarks, but did not acquire any of the inventory. If there are any Nashbar branded bikes at this point, they would likely be sold through a liquidator. Since Amain owns the trademark, they may have new ones produced under that label, but there's no reason to assume they'd be the same bikes.

That's a good thought. They weren't actually any lighter than a high end steel fork, but had better clearance for fitting wider tires (my original steel fork just barely let me squeeze in a 23 mm tire on 23 mm OD rims, but the nashbar lets me easily fit 25 mm tires on those rims but still has enough curve that it doesn't look as out of place as some straight forks that you can find for replacements.

Most "house brands" are made by someone else, but they generally hide the actual manufacturer. Sometimes you can figure it out if there's anything distinctive about the features of the manufacturer's own label products that matches the house brand ones.

Last night I went to Nashbar's new site and browsed around. I prefer Jenson USA.

Banned.
Well
Maybe there is a little hope for those Nashbar branded bikes. Let’s hope.
Thanks for the updates!

The "new" website is a big improvement, even if it's just a rebadged version of another site. Quick, easy to search. I'm seeing some interesting bargains.
Nashbar's old site was a serious hindrance to their overall market position -- slow, poorly organized, difficult to search by custom filters. I was still a fan of Nashbar and willing to put up with the chore of navigating the site to find bargains or unique items.
But I often skipped purchases because it was so sluggish, especially a couple of years ago when they had special discounts offered for a brief time on short notice. A few times deadlines passed and I ended up buying nothing because the site was so inefficient. Same complaint I have about Amazon.
It's a good example of how website design can affect a business.
It would be nice if they continued some of Nashbar's house brand products that were unique or good values. For example their Townie grocery pannier was a great value compared with similar designs from other makers. I've gotten a lot of use from a pair over three years. But most of the Nashbar branded bags and panniers had vanished from the site over the last year or two.
And their house brand bikes were considered good values by several product reviewers.
