Kids' Track Bike
Any suggestions for a track bike for a 7 year-old boy, new to track but desperate for his own track bike (and his brother is apparently getting a computer for Xmas, so hard to turn down a new bike...)?
Islabikes Reiss seems to have been discontinued (and he rides one at his club so is likely to want something a bit different).
The Frog track bike seems OK (his road bike is a Frog) but is a horrible colour.
The Hoy Meadowbank 24" is looking like the best bet at the moment. Anybody got any experience of it or any other suggestions?
thanks

I've been thinking about the same thing, and an idea I've had is to convert a mini or junior-sized BMX bike. You can get really skinny tires for these now (~1"/25mm), and properly short cranks (down to around 110mm), and I think the rear spacing is right for a track hub. The main challenge seems to be a properly narrow handle bar, and the relatively affordable options form Nitto only go down to 34cm.
