Hit 6000 mile goal today
After riding most of the year, I got to my goal for the year. 6000 miles. Have been messing around for the last month or so with being so close. looked at the calendar and saw the end was getting close, weather was cool but not very much wind. Rode 32 miles today to put me over the top. Had to tell somebody! LOL
I know it is not the most for a year. Only been riding 4 years, so I feel pretty good about the mileage.

That’s great, especially for not riding that long. Any guess as to your average miles per ride?
One of my cycling friends turned 81 this month. His longest ride this year was 211 miles. He topped 14,000 miles earlier this month.

@jppe, My average ride is 30-40 miles . Did this 5-6 days a week. Being retired helps a lot. Also did 5 or 6 Metrics to add into the mix. I upped the mileage about mid year to the 40 miles. It really helped me on doing the metrics. Longest ride this year was 70.3.
Just got into the habit of eating breakfast, wait about an hour and then go ride for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Come home and take a nap. LOL Was getting worn out towards the end of the year. Have not ridden much since November.

I'm on track to hit ~6750, maybe 6800 miles for the year, and that's with a full-time job...but very little time for anything else. Looking forward to the day when I too can count on getting in a post-ride nap every day!

6000 is great. I'm at 4679 and I doubt I'll hit 5000 this year. I've had sciatica through December and it put a dent in my riding.

Well done! I doubt I will have a chance to hit that number until I'm retired. Working gets in the way of my recreational pursuits. But working also pays for my recreational pursuits.

6,000 is an accomplishment!
I've flirted with 5,000 in recent years but haven't hit it yet. Curious to see if being retired as of 1/1/19 will help me increase my yearly totals. Will have to compensate for loss of commuting miles but should have more days/daylight available for more-frequent and longer rides.

6000 is great! Congrats.
I hit 7300 one year with 23 centuries. Hit 6000 a couple of times, 5000 about 3 times.
But over a span of 23 consistent years on the bike, I hit 4,000 most years or a little more. The high numbers are great but after a few, I'm happy with 4k.

Thanks for all the accolades. It was quite a journey to get the 6004 miles. Have not ridden very much in the last month. LOL After the effort I put in, it was a let down not to have a goal to head for. I am not sure I want to up the mileage goal for 2019 as wife has retired now and life changes as we all know. We are planning on doing a couple of multiple week trips with the camper and not sure I want to take my carbon bike along. It worries me to have it on the bike rack and I am sleeping in the camper. Cost me too much to wake up and it be gone.
