The Centurion does not bother me so much as the Wilier. He took what appears to be a pristine survivor and made it into JAFFG.

Ugh. Was the Centurion painted while fully assembled? That's almost comedic. The Wilier, that's almost criminal.

PBR does not leave nearly the bad taste compared to that what was done to the Willer leaves.
I understand uglyfying a bike to keep if from being stolen, but the Centurion now looks like it was stolen, all it needs is a pawn shop or police auction tag to complete the illusion.

As soon as I read the title of this thread I knew that Wilier was going to be posted. That Wilier is sad much more so than the Centurion. A nice vintage track bike in great shape turned into a hipster ride to match his white belt. Very sad!
I have two vintage track bikes and I would never ever redo them. The stock paint is in good shape, and I got them with mostly period parts. They have scratches and paint chips here and there, but that gives them character. When I got my Paramount Track bike it didn't have a wheelset. I wanted a nice clincher wheelset and absolutely could not bring myself to putting a formula hub wheelset with Deep V on it. I watched ebay for awhile and bought high flange double fixed Phil Wood hubs laced to silver Mavic Ma3s. I wanted a very nice hubs to go with the Campy parts and a box section rim. I will say I have a close to stock tubular wheelset for the Paramount as well (high flange Record track hubs to Mavic Montherly tubular rims).

The beauty of it all is that those bikes have zero value now except as generic fixed gears. If he ever decides to sell his Wilier, he'll never be able to sell it as a Wilier. Same for the Centurion. Just anonymous, generic fixed gears now, and forever.

The best part is this not just some doosh with a personal "dream bike vision", but a "shop" or business venture of some sort that built this bike on spec to sell. According to a local that was following the sale it was bid to only a grand falling far short of their asking price. The bike in its previous state would have brought at least $1000-$1500 on ebay I would think.
Why you would start with a fairly rare, clean original Italian race bike to make a rolling cliche like that is beyond me. Buried in that thick black powder coat it may as well be a Surley or any other generic tig welded faux tracker under there.
It's such a perfect FU to any vintage bike guy I almost thought it was a great prank, but to be that they would have had to start with a 60's Masi.

some of these idiots cut off the cable braze ons and the shifter bosses. Saw it done on a vintage Masi. Made me want to punch the guy in the head.

I was watching this bike on the local version of Ebay. I didn't realise that it was a very nice track bike before it was ruined (I don't mind the colour scheme, but hate the chopped bars and lack of brakes).
Even though it was done by a Aucklander, I'll apologise on behalf of all decent New Zealanders for ruining a nice bike.
They wanted waay too much for it in it's converted state. Hopefully someone at least rides the poor thing.
