And what would be correct? Is there some rule that I am unaware of that every Colnago must have a complete matching Super Record or C-Record group? What if this how the original owner built up after pumping gas all winter to earn the money to buy the frame and some parts better than what was on his Schwinn Traveler?
I'd change the saddle and brake levers to something more comfortable to my taste and feel and leave the rest alone.

While preparing for vacay in the Tampa, Florida area in 2015, I checked out the local CL and stumbled on a 1973 Colnago in my size. It was owned by the seller's father-in-law, a former airline pilot from Munich who had retired in the (I think) Naples area. It was full Dura-Ace, though by the time I got down to see it, the seller (knowing nothing about bikes) had completely disassembled it, even to the point of unlacing the wheels. I think he thought that a) that was the best way to clean it, and b) felt he'd get more for the bike parted out. I wound up not buying it, mostly because I felt a slight ripple under the top tube. It probably wouldn't have been an issue, but I'd already bought one frame with undisclosed front-end damage requiring fork straightening and eventual rechroming, so I was a bit leery of buying another.
At any rate, we talked for awhile, and the guy told me he'd gotten all sorts of hate mail from people basically saying he was lying that the bike had come with Dura-Ace components. Colnagos were always full Campy. Poor guy. As it turns out, the guy's father-in-law bought the bike from Sigi Renz's shop in Munich. Sigi told him that the D-A components were every bit as good as Campagnolo at half the price, so that's how he had the bike outfitted.
Of course, I now wish I'd taken the plunge on that bike.

Kind of not a good thing to hear about a friend. It puts some perspective on whether my opinion of a bike that I won't ever own is worth kvetching about. I'm out of this one. MH

I'm always dumbfounded by stuff like this that fly's under the radar, it's like we can't believe our eyes.These guys have been doing it as or more right than any other for a long time.

There have been two nice Rodriguez bikes here in Seattle that don't sell under $500, so that pretty blue one in Spokane might hang there a while.

The whole thing is crazy. I took 2 Merz's and the 58 Paramount to the show in Anacortes where several people saw the Merz's that did not know who he was but instantly knew what they were looking at being very savvy C+V bike folk that couldn't believe they didn't know who he was.
Either way I always get a ton of positive response whenever I display them.
Again, they speak for themselves when you look at them as do Davidson, Ercikson, Rodriguez, Thompson, Ahearne, Pereira, DeSalvo, Igleheart, Lyon, Kamzelski, Anderson and so many others
There was one guy who was a huge fan like me, had only ever seen 1 other before and couldn't believe he was seeing 2 at the same time, he commented "I would have driven all the way here just to see these", I don't think he came that far but he was thrilled.
