A. Levis aren't any cheaper, but don't you have any old ones with holes in them? When you are done you can wash them and cut them up for a set of nice, soft, tough cotton rags. Use them for the Goofing-Offing.
B. It is possible to glue a tubular without any drips or glue on your hand.
C. Use Baggies as gloves, for one thing. Use a brush or a popsicle stick to dopple a bit of glue on the tire trough, avoiding drips from the stick. Put the baggie over your hand and use your finger to spread the glue over the entire tire trough. Dopple it again when you need to. Repeat as needed. When you are sick of the baggie toss it and grab a new one.
D. Use a brush to apply the glue - Conti cement in a can has a built-in brush
E. Keep Goof-Off around to wipe up drips, you need to clean your brake tracks anyway.
F. Get a few pairs of trousers from Goodwill for $5.00/pair.
G. Remember not to wipe on your pants. If my mom was still around I'd ask her to call you and tell you that.

good thread! can anyone recommend a compact tire pump that i can easily switch from bike to bike? there are so many choices that it boggles my simple old brain, and ideally i'd like something to quickly Velcro on whatever steed i might ride that day without having to buy a frame pump for every bike in the stable.

From another thread:
I have memories of Tubasti back in the 70's, and they weren't pleasant ones!
It must work, though, because I still see it for sale in the shops and mailorder vendors.
The Conti and Vittoria glues have been kinder to me, though, and produced much less mess.
I suspect that the messy experiences with Tubasti must be fairly common, because one of the fellows at Classic Rendezvous wrote a little poem about Tubasti many years ago.
Attached below is "Tubasti", by Aldo Ross.

Tubasti by A.Ross
Tubasti on the sidewalls
Tubasti on the spokes
Tubasti on my workbench
Sticking to the nuts and bolts
Tubasti on my fingers
Tubasti on my arms
Tubasti on my chin and cheeks
I hope it won’t cause harm
Tubasti on the light switch
Tubasti on the cat
Tubasti on my shoes and socks
And on my car’s floor mat
Tubasti on the carpet
Tubasti in my hair
I tried to glue just one damn tire
Now Tubasti’s everywhere!

That ought to be good for another couple pages of bickering.
