rude teenagers at newport beach

this teenage girl said my head is shaped like a dick just because i told her "on your left". and then this other teenager girl said something in my general direction which i couldnt understand cause i was passing her. she was pointing at me and then when i looked at her, she pointed at someone else behind me.

there were a lot of rude kids out there today.

p.s. i can average over 20mph now for 10 miles. i was flying on my way back but maybe it was the wind helping me?? i passed a lot of people on cruisers and hybrids. i felt like i was going pretty fast!!

It's not just the teenagers that are rude in Newport Beach.

Wow! Will have to remember that one about head shapes....kind of funny - as long as it's not directed at you!

Dude, you're either a troll or have the thinnest skin of anybody I've ever heard of. It seems like 90% of your posts are about SOMEBODY dissing you or talking smack. I don't know. I rode to Newport every other day on my Mountain bike for three years and never has a single incident.

Hell, for all I know maybe they do point and say stuff and I just don't care enough to decipher it. Teenage girl getting under your skin? Eeeeeee-gad.....

Where you on PCH of the beach trail? If on the trail you had no business going that fast. If you want to improve your speed, make sure you are out on PCH otherwise, you are just another rude cyclist, going too fast on the Strand.

I was on the Newport Beach Strand yesterday. My riding buddy & I went for a casual ride down to Balboa Saloon to celebrate the beginning of summer. We've been doing this for about 20 years. In that time I've seen about 1-2 minor collisions. Seem everyone knows how to stay out of each others way, be they 6 year old kid, 80+ year old Gramma & Grandpa, and the amazingly hot supermodel-in-training-on-candy-colored beach cruiser girlies. Hooting & hand flapping are for a different style of riding altogether. The teenage kids are just fine down there, even the drunks are mellow.

Were you on the Huntington Beach boardwalk on Sunday? There was a guy who kept up a steady chatter of "on your left" "have a nice day" "thank you" . Drove me & others around him bug$hit. Lonely guy carried on like he was the only one who new the proper way to ride. Rode a touring bike with loaded panniers.

I can ride 20 mph for 10 miles myself when the occasion calls for it. The speed limit on the Strand is 8 mph. Riding much faster than that will cause your head to assume the shape of a dick.

I saw that guy. I thought he was a giant phallus for how he was acting/riding.

From the sound of it, I'd much rather see guys like this on the road than his opposites.

Riding anywhere along the Newport Beach - Huntington Beach bike paths requires peace, love and understanding. I was on the HB path this morning, and a kid was coming towards me on his beach cruiser, head down in his cell phone, texting away. I gave him a WIDE berth, and a "please look up". He looked up just as I passed him, absolutely amazed that there was anybody else around him.

Just keep it slow, watch everyone around you, and assume that they're oblivious ('cuz they probably are).

i like newport beach but not to check out underaged girls. most of those girls in bikinis riding around on their beach cruisers are not even 18!! if you are checking them out, i say to you sir, shame on you!!!

there are some women my age that are attractive but something about california makes everyone turn into condescending jerks and even these attractive women give me the obnoxious "im too good for you" look when they notice me checking them out. thats why i dont even look at them when they know im looking at them. i only look when they are oblivious of my stares.

I refuse to feel ashamed for admiring a beautiful young woman in a bikini. Nature made men so. Don't remember ever getting the "I'm to good for you" look. Mostly they're completely oblivious to my presence. That works too. Have an excellent wife at home who is the center of my life.

I ride the beach for a different reason then I ride the streets. It's a time to slow down and enjoy the day & atmosphere.
