Let's Get Started With 2016 WT! Tour Down Under (Spoilers)
Let's get started on 2016! A bit early to start this thread maybe, call it over-eagerness, but there you go.
The first World Tour race is the Tour Down Under. Seems the race has lost a bit of luster, with more teams choosing to send their A squad to the Tour de San Luis, but the TDU is reliably broadcast while the TSL is . . . well, I've not been able to find video in previous years, maybe they will stream this year.
Who are you especially watching at the TDU? Porte for new team BMC? Ewan who is on a hot streak? Hesjedal for new team Trek?

I'm interested in Geraint Thomas for Sky. He's always been one of the most talented riders around but early in his road career he seemed to check his brains at the start line and raced like a fool, wasting his strength. Last year he was showing signs of fulfilling his potential, and I wouldn't be all that surprised if he won this.
I'll also be watching Rein Taaramae at Katusha. Three or so years ago I thought he was going to be a top stage racer, but his career seems to have stalled a bit.

Looking forward to seeing what Team Dimension Data can accomplish, this season; I really like the internationalization they add to the sport.

I would like to watch each stage but with basic cable (broadcast channels only) I don't have a channel that is going to air any part of the race at all! While live streaming would be possible, it doesn't align with my workday (9-5 Central time zone). Is there any way to watch a previously recorded stage for that day or like a 1 hour recap of the stage for each day?

Nice sprint by Ewan. He was 8th wheel at the start of the sprint, tucked in behind Renshaw and then came around and accelerated away to win by multiple bike lengths. Speed to spare.
The sprint competition is kind of sparse at the TDU, I think Renshaw, Wippert and Swift were his main opponents and I don't think any of them is a top sprinter, so Ewan is the class of the field.
I didn't watch too much of the stage, anything interesting happen earlier on?. I guess the peloton was tracking the breakaway rider for almost the whole stage?

The live heart rate and power data being shown for some riders is pretty cool. I wish this data would be onscreen a lot more. Just pick an instrumented rider in the part of the peloton of interest - usually the front - and leave the graphic running.
I liked seeing that, when the bunch was attacking a small roller at around 40 kmh, the rider being streamed (Earle) was briefly doing 650 watts at 170 bpm. Just cool.
And wouldn't it have been nice to get that data streaming from one of the sprinters in the final?. That was a long sprint, looked painful, wonder what power McCarthy was putting down for 300 m?

Gerrans is quite the sprinter, for a guy who can also attack a climb with the best of them. This Michael - Woods, is it? - with Cannondale, he's a nice new face, as is McCarthy.
Steephill has videos, usually of the last 20k and last 1k and highlights. During the race, it has links to the live feed.

This Woods keeps impressing. Porte was on fire, and I think this is the most action I've seen from Henao in a good while.

Ewan walked away from the rest of the sprinters again, won by multiple bike lengths and was still pulling away at the line. I don't really expect Renshaw to keep up with Ewan, but thought Ben Swift might have made a fight of it.
