Dave's 2017 ride log
first ride of the year done while it was snowing... 2.5 miles, and the return the roads were covered in snow...I love my Maxxis Padrone tubeless tires.

And I had my Dr. Seuss jersey on, and my bib shorts.

I also only have one ride logged for 2017 so far, 35.5 miles on New Year's Day. I'd like to get some more actual miles in but it's TOO FRIGGIN' COLD!
Until the weather improves I'm going to keep riding virtual miles on my trainer.

it's about smiles per mile, maybe grins per miles some days
I still haven't rode my bike yet this year. I hope to change that tomorrow.

no miles, but 25 minutes on the trainer while getting a bike fit https://www.strava.com/activities/832184084
Was a good stretch, and it feels much better to ride now.

What is the temp on that snow ride? I rode last night at 44 degrees and that took some debating before I got out the door. If it were snow, not sure I could get my foot out the door. That is hardcore!

So I haven't been on the bike much this year due to having no energy. The lack of energy is due to a prescription of Accutaine (Zenetane) which is for acne.... so now I have three days left on that medication (and it has been working). This means my sleep cycles should go back to normal (i.e. me getting past the REM sleep and into restorative sleep) which will also lower my fasting glucose.
I did air up all my tires a couple days ago, and am looking forward to riding after work and on weekends.
I did sign up for the 50 mile route of the 2017 Spokane, WA Tour de Cure which will occur mid June.

Not dead yet Went outside for 13.7 miles today. temp was just under 50 degrees with low wind (up to 10mph) https://www.strava.com/activities/887885884/overview I was a bit slower than I used to be, but that is to be expected for the first time riding in a couple months.
The bike fit paid off with me not feeling like I was putting out the same effort for speed and distance that I used to.
Heart rate was a bit higher than I wanted, but that also was to be expected, and it will come down the more I ride.
I did have to turn around after the first few blocks and go back home as the shield for my eyes (I ride a Giro Air Attack with shield helmet) had a split down the middle; so I grabbed my spare and started out again.

16.8 miles today https://www.strava.com/activities/914528008 doing windtervals as there was a 14mph headwind with gusts to 25mph for any westward travel. I did tackle one of my nemesis hills, and did okay for the first time of the year. 48 miles for the month, 68 miles for the year.
Bike is back today from a week in the shop waiting for parts as I had it converted from 105 ten speed to Ultegra 11 speed. The 10 speed groupset is now on my son's bike that was nine speed.

While riding into a headwind is no picnic, consider that headwind an added bonus at making you stronger on the bike
Unless strava(or the like) numbers really matter to you, as long as it's nice & dry outside - HTFU and ditch that f**king trainer. Okay, that said, please pardon me as I now need to practice what I preach and get my bike out from winter storage.

I will take the ribbing and ride the trainer on those days
I went out one day and was doing 35mph sustained without pedaling on the way home, but on the way headed out I burned 1000 calories in 6 miles due to fighting the wind.

12.9 miles today with a slight wind (under 10mph from the west). https://www.strava.com/activities/944010792 44.9 miles for the month and 113.9 for the year. I know it is a slow start.
Rode this with a knot in my neck/shoulder and chest congestion as I am getting over being sick.

did 4.6 miles Wednesday to the VA clinic to get the results of my labs, and for my annual consult with them.
Today my son and I completed the 25 mile route of the Inland Empire Century with plenty of 13-20 mph head and cross wind. 29.6 miles for the week, 34.2 miles for the month and 176.2 miles for the year.
