The one's in your photo look like they are built for speed. Yep, always gotta stop.

These were some big'uns, and they weren't shy either. Most horses are nervous around bicycles but even with the loud i9 hubs these guys walked right up to the fence as soon as they saw me coming. They definitely weren't afraid and seemed to like apple pie flavored Lara bars.

This was a photo fail...

Love the weather this time of year in Chicago. Warm enough to ride comfortably but too chilly still for big crowds clogging the lakefront. Just me, a few dog walkers and some people fishing. Perfect way to unwind at the end of a busy friday!

^^ thats a cool photo.

Today a couple dozen like minded cyclists and I did a North Georgia mixed surface ride.

Mud pits, fresh one inch aggregate on 15% grades, concrete barriers, stream crossings, abandoned forest service roads, a sustained mountain climb at mile 69 - 110 miles total and 11,000 ft climbing. This was the most climbing I've done in one day by a good margin.

Georgia wine country

The descent off Burnt Mountain. I hit 51+ MPH.

Didn't help at all.

One of the more bucolic moments...

Stretching the legs late in the ride on a relatively tame section of doubletrack on the perimeter of the Rich Mountain Wilderness.

I haven't been around in a while - but I take pics on almost all my commutes and/or weekend rides.
Here's a bunch of shots from morning/afternoon commuting from the last few weeks

This cat lives by the horse stables along one of my routes and comes over to hang out for a bit when I roll up.

Whats the size of that rear cassete, are you using MTB derailleurs or the ultegra ones can handle that cassete?

It is an 11-42 XT cassette. A 1.85 mm spacer was used behind the cassette for fitment on road wheels.

The derailleur is an Ultegra RX-805 GS. The B screw was reversed so it clears the biggest sprocket but no other modifications were done and no Wolftooth was used.

Rings are Absolute Black 46-30 oval. Low gear is about 19.5 inches.

It uses an entire 116 link chain and shifts great.

At least two others in the gravel forum are using this setup.

a few from Barrio Logan GP last weekend:

I'm third from the right of the SDBC riders (red, white, black)

Not doing the best job of staying low right here... maybe I was tired!

finishing a pull early in the break, watching this guy get cheered on by his girlfriend. how sweet .

Should have grabbed third, maybe even second, but that would have required a different approach in those final corners and a lot more effort! Also go Trevor

Full race report here if you're interested.
