Early brifters? Using turkey lever boss for for shifter

I haven't seen anyone do this before, have you? Link, for as long as the auction is still alive, but I'll download the pics and post here for posterity.

Curious how lever travel is mitigated.

I could see the OP's discovery suddenly becoming "a thing"!!!

Mafac levers with Simplex RETROFRICTIONS, oooooo!

Note to experimenters, use a fast-action (hi actuation) derailer like a 1970's Simplex, or Huret Rival, together with closer freewheel cog spacing in order to mitigate the awkward ergonomics of larger lever movements.

An indexed lever would be another possibility, but note that a cable housing stop needs to be inclusive to any such lever.
The tinkerers will inevitably overcome all barriers to a mechanically-sound fitment, I am certain.

And then there are Command shifters for those who are happy to leave re-designing to others.
Surely the auctioned item is equivalent to one of Suntour's prototypes!

That definitely removes the pressure of trying to find hoods that would fit. Because none of them do.

But my bike does have turkey levers and stem shifters...hmmm.

The depicted OP appear to invite disaster, while one is braking and a digit accidently hits the shifter.

Dia-Compe offers new the ENE Wing shifter. A ratchet action power shifter for up to 11 speed. All metal components and robust for those whom encounter a few bang-ups.

Here is a set I made mounts for after I saw the Gevenalles a few years back. I ran these for a couple years before going back to DT shifters. But I liked how these worked.
Vs the Gevenalles, I made the housing stops aim downward like brifters do for a smoother run. I currently run Gevenalle shifters on my disc gravel bike and like them as well.

If ugly were for sale...

Mind you, in a pinch, anything that works will do. I find myself facing just that situation, finding my drive side cranks screwed (thread for pedal is totaled). With that in mind, what ever I can find, that will fit, will be installed on the Bianchi toute suite ( means right away in Canadian French)...
