Must visit bike shops in Denver CO?

I am going to be in the Denver area, specifically Golden for a week at the end of the month and wondering if their are any must see shops in the area. I will have some down time and usually visit bike shops instead of bars.

thanks!

Big Ring Cycles in Golden is a nice shop, recently rated one of the best. I think they have an espresso machine and maybe some nice Whiskey if you ask politely. Some pretty bikes in there.

If you'll have a bike with you or want to hire a bike, the ride up lookout mountain from Golden is one of the best climbs you'll ever do.

I don't spend much time in Golden - if you make it to Boulder, check out some of the shops on Pearl Street. The Rapha store is pretty cool.

Enjoy your visit to Colorado!

Yes! Just this past Wednesday it hit 60 degrees. Colorado is an alpine desert, and it doesn't get too cold in the front country unless a snowstorm is coming in. Check out the forecast ahead of your trip and plan accordingly.

The dry climate and 300+ days of sunny, blue skies, feel much warmer. 45 degrees here is comfortable to ride in with covered skin, whereas 45 in Ohio will feel like a frozen swamp with the humidity. In my opinion.

Vecchio's in Boulder is worth a trip; it's on the East end of the Pearl Street Mall. It's very small, a Campy specialist shop, and they sell high-end brands like Moots and Waterford. But they're friendly and the shop is very cool.

Way down on the other end of the Pearl Street Mall is a big shop - University Cycles is the name, I think. You can wander around in there for a while.

btw, Pearl Street is fun if you are in Boulder - a cool walking mall with a lot of nice shops and restaurants. You could make a day trip (or a half-day trip) of it.

Forgot to mention that the Rapha store is right next to Vecchio's, if you want to drop some serious money on cycling clothes. But if you don't spend money in bars, why not?

Then too just up the road in Boulder are several really good bike shops. Some nationally known.

Boulder and it's "suburbs" have a ridiculous number of cycling shops. Some serve coffee, some serve beer, and one serves Mexican food and margaritas.

That is my kind of shop!!! Scarfing down chips, salsa and tacos and looking at bikes is a pretty good time for me.

I wouldn't bet on good cycling weather, but you might get lucky and see 45-50 degrees in January. It won't reach that temp until as late as 1 pm. We've had a few of those already this year.

I will keep a close eye on the weather. I will probably be content just running around exploring the shops on this trip.

There are likely to be two or three days that reach the mid-50s during the last week of January, and it will probably be sunny. As Rabbit pointed out, the sun will make it feel considerably warmer.
